OK, no problems with the NL squad. Looks solid there, nobody got screwed. Some major problems with the AL....

1) Posada not starting. I know the fans vote and all, but come on. Guy was hitting .370 a couple weeks ago. Better than I-Rod this year who just hitting over .280. This is a joke. If the game had no meaning I wouldn't care, but hey this game matters now!!

2) Justin Morneau should be starting at 1B. Ortiz doesn't even play the field unless they are in an NL park. Monreau has roughly 10 more home runs and over 10 RBI's more than Ortiz plus he plays the field everyday. Ortiz should be on the team of course and pinch hit for the pitcher at some point early in the game and be done with his night. You can't reward this guy with starting when he only picks up a glove a handful of times a year if that.

3) The AL only carrying TWO firstbasemen in a national league park means Ortiz is probably gonna half to play at least 4+ innings in the field. Uh, someone want to tell Jim Leyland that this game COUNTS!!!!!!!!! You can't have a defensive liability in the field for half the game!!!! Only thing I can think of is maybe he carried 3 catchers because he plans on using Posada at first base but I see that unlikely.

3) Why is Michael Young even on this team?? Nobody better on Texas could go?

4) Gil Meche with a losing record of 5-6?? I know KC needs a representive, but this was the best they had??

There are squabbles every year about who should or should not go. Personally, I am just stoked to see Brad Penny (LAD) pitching to RUssell Martin (LAD) to start the game in their main rival's park (SF). I don't know why, but it makes me smile just thinking about it. :D

Orlando Cabrera should be on the team.

I think Victor Martinez has spent some time at 1B this year so maybe he'll play it a bit in the game.

I agree with Mike that Posada should start the game. I mean the guy has been a hitting machine.

Edgar Renteria should have made it.

He and Gary Cancerfield got robbed the most. I hate the Braves but, have to admit Renteria has dominated all year. More so than Rollins who alot of people are whining about. Truth is 5 NL SS's deserved to go. Also Orlando Cabrera should be there in the AL. Johnny Maine wouldve been a good choice too. He should at least be on the list of final vote candidates.

Reyes over Jimmy Rollins at SS? Give me a break? Even Kruk and EY were shocked at this.

How is Jose Reyes having a better season than Hanley Ramirez? I'm not asking who is a better player or who has a brighter future, I'm asking how in the hell Reyes is having a better season?

Ahh, the pub of playing for the New York Mets compared to the Florida Marlins.

What's up with the lack of chicago white sox players? just because there losing doesn't mean they suck.

Victor Martinez should be the starter at catcher. Not only is he leading catchers in almost all offensive categories, he is also in the top 10 for throwing runners out. So there is no doubt that Victor should be starting, not Pudge or Posada.

This must be the thread where everyone cries that someone from their favorite team gets snubbed from the All-Star Game.

nah, its not... im glad jose reyes is playing over jimmy rollins (a phil, who cares), edgar renteria (a brave, who cares), and hanley ramirez (sorry, you aint jose reyes just yet).

Not taking anything away from Hanley Ramirez. They are having similar seasons, however you could make the argument for both.

Reyes has a better OBP, Their averages are the exact same. Reyes has more RBI and a lot more Stolen Bases. He has a better fielding percentage and better Zone range than Hanley Ramirez too, making him a better fielder.

Not to mention Jose Reyes is on a winning team.

It's quite clear that if Reyes isn't having a better season, they sure are on par with each other

Fielding

Reyes FPCT: .986
Rollins FPCT: .979

Reyes ZR: .906
Rollins ZR: .819

As for batting:

Reyes OBP: .400
Rollins OBP: .323

Give me a break! We're talking about lead-off men here. This is the most telling stat!

Reyes AVG: .318
Rollins AVG: .283

Reyes HR: 4
Rollins HR: 14

Reyes RBI: 34
Rollins RBI: 49

Reyes SB: 40
Rollins SB: 15

Reyes BB: 45
Rollins BB: 21

Not to mention Reyes's team is ahead of Rollins's team in the standings, and Reyes is the MVP of his team, while Chase Utley is the MVP of Rollins's team. When it comes to intangibles, NO ONE in the NL at SS is better than Reyes.

If you ask me, provided the analysis I just gave, I think those guys on baseball tonight are on some illegal substances. Reyes is clearly deserving of the starting spot in the all-star game. And if you see my post above, he clearly deserves it over Hanley Ramirez too.

Enjoy the game. :D
