Gase knew a reset was coming by Christmas of last year, after he saw his team go from an upset of the eventual AFC champion Patriots on a Monday in Week 14 to playing like they had no interest in being in frigid Buffalo six days later.

“They basically drummed us, and it wasn’t even really a game,” Gase said. “That was disappointing. You knew that was a big game, and it was following a big game. We’d gone up there and won the year before. And we didn’t show up.”

Since then the Dolphins …

Great to read the dolphins finally played the rest of the league. Now if only their plans to move and trade suh had worked

A national writer that actually did some research, I guess they do exist

I'm really happy with the Minkah Fitz draft pick but one can only speculate what could have happened if Arizona hadn't moved up to get Rosen just ahead of us in the Draft. By Gase's preemptive action in discussing the matter upfront with Tannehill and explaining that the team would fully evaluate the QBs in the Draft, but Ryan shouldn't react to it, this MMQB article successfully demonstrates how deftly smart Gase is in knowing how to handle his players (and the media). Adam Gase dissipated any potential problem by being candid with his QB months ago, but still enabled his GM to evaluate the emerging QB talent and all options. In contrast, Adam's predecessor Joe Philbin, would probably have triggered a potential QB controversy in trying to handle the same situation.

How can Dolphins fans not be happy with the off season moves Miami has made this year? Gase has rebuilt this team at just about every position, have to be excited and proud of the FO and coach.

I still stand by my opinion that the team never intended to pick a QB at #11. I think it was all a smoke screen. Gase and the current front office need, and want to win now and that doesn't happen with a rookie QB. Their best shot at success this season has always been with a healthy Tannehill, and an impact player at #11. Both still remain to be seen, but things are looking good so far.

".... For Gase, this isn’t so much a start as it is a reset. A year ago, he was seen like Sean McVay and Kyle Shanahan are now—a young offensive guru on his way up. Last year knocked him back a little bit. And the lessons he learned are written all over his roster...."

A very concise and accurate summary.

I agree!

I agree it was used as a smoke screen, but with an option that did not limit us if an opportunity for one of those players arose.

Miami lacked consistency all season long. The game against New England honestly seemed to come out of nowhere. All of a sudden the Dolphins looked like a quality team with X. Howard swinging momentum on the first drive of both halves and Jay Cutler making great plays all day long.

Anyway, I do give Gase a lot of credit for recognizing that the team needed to make changes and for being bold enough to bring in his type of player. He is slowly putting his imprint on the team and time will tell if those moves work out.

I agree. I'm pretty sure if the right QB was there for us we'd have taken him. Gase believes in Tannehill but he also wants to cover all the bases.
