Rd. 1-Dan Williams NT Tennessee
With the options fairly limited in the early rounds of the draft as far as NT goes, I think Miami finds its long term answer here. Terrence Cody of Alabama is another option, but I refuse to pick any of The Liar's talent.
Rd 2. Brandon Spikes ILB Florida
Pretty easy pick here. Our ILB's have looked incredibly mediocre and Spikes is a gamer and a leader. He in tandem with Williams will really upgrade our front 7 and make us much tougher through the middle.
Rd 3. OG John Jerry Ole Miss
I looked at a lot of the offensive skill positions here, but couldn't justify taking anyone in the 3rd round (Even a WR), I also dont think Parcells and Sparano could get through a draft without picking at least one OL. Jerry is a PUNISHING run blocker and is a mountain of a man at 6-5 350.
Rd 4. Ed Dickson TE Oregon
Decent blocker, and good athleticism, he really became a weapon for Masoli and Co this season and would immediately upgrade our redzone attack.
Rd 6. Brandon Sharpe OLB Texas Tech
Not very fast (only 4.7ish speed) , but notched 15 sacks this season, pretty decent production for a guy projected in the late rounds.
Rd 6. Ben Tate RB Auburn
I think we need another RB in the stable with Ronnie's penchant for injuries. Tate had good production at Auburn in his senior campaign, has a great YPC and has excellent speed.
Rd 6. Danario Alexander, WR Missouri
Put up excellent production in his senior season. Had 113 grabs for just shy of 1800 yards. At 6'5'' 215 he could be the big, physical WR we're looking for. His speed won't blow you away but is decent for his size. Route running is questionable.
Rd 7. Cam Nelson, SS Arizona
Lacks a bit in deep coverage of WR's but very capable of covering most TE's and RB's. Solid tackler who is excellent in run support. Used very effectively as a QB spy against teams with running QB's such as Dan LeFevour and Jeremiah Masoli. Good blitzer with 3 sacks last season.
Rd 7. Marlon Winn OT Texas Tech
He's a big guy at 6'6'' 327, but coming from Tech, you know he has to be a good pass blocker, which is something this team could use. Depth at Tackle is an overlooked need in my opinon as Carey and Long are top notch, but I shudder to think what happens if one of them goes down. Winn is good value as a pass blocking tackle at this point.
