Rd. 1-Dan Williams NT Tennessee

With the options fairly limited in the early rounds of the draft as far as NT goes, I think Miami finds its long term answer here. Terrence Cody of Alabama is another option, but I refuse to pick any of The Liar's talent.

Rd 2. Brandon Spikes ILB Florida

Pretty easy pick here. Our ILB's have looked incredibly mediocre and Spikes is a gamer and a leader. He in tandem with Williams will really upgrade our front 7 and make us much tougher through the middle.

Rd 3. OG John Jerry Ole Miss

I looked at a lot of the offensive skill positions here, but couldn't justify taking anyone in the 3rd round (Even a WR), I also dont think Parcells and Sparano could get through a draft without picking at least one OL. Jerry is a PUNISHING run blocker and is a mountain of a man at 6-5 350.

Rd 4. Ed Dickson TE Oregon

Decent blocker, and good athleticism, he really became a weapon for Masoli and Co this season and would immediately upgrade our redzone attack.

Rd 6. Brandon Sharpe OLB Texas Tech

Not very fast (only 4.7ish speed) , but notched 15 sacks this season, pretty decent production for a guy projected in the late rounds.

Rd 6. Ben Tate RB Auburn

I think we need another RB in the stable with Ronnie's penchant for injuries. Tate had good production at Auburn in his senior campaign, has a great YPC and has excellent speed.

Rd 6. Danario Alexander, WR Missouri

Put up excellent production in his senior season. Had 113 grabs for just shy of 1800 yards. At 6'5'' 215 he could be the big, physical WR we're looking for. His speed won't blow you away but is decent for his size. Route running is questionable.

Rd 7. Cam Nelson, SS Arizona

Lacks a bit in deep coverage of WR's but very capable of covering most TE's and RB's. Solid tackler who is excellent in run support. Used very effectively as a QB spy against teams with running QB's such as Dan LeFevour and Jeremiah Masoli. Good blitzer with 3 sacks last season.

Rd 7. Marlon Winn OT Texas Tech

He's a big guy at 6'6'' 327, but coming from Tech, you know he has to be a good pass blocker, which is something this team could use. Depth at Tackle is an overlooked need in my opinon as Carey and Long are top notch, but I shudder to think what happens if one of them goes down. Winn is good value as a pass blocking tackle at this point.

we need some more picks in the first 4 rounds

at first glance it looks good. debatable whether I would take cody as the NT or not. have to see what the combine brings, so we can see them side by side.

I like your list but one thing why wouldnt you pick cody? I know you said because of Satan himself but come on if we do go NT and the bestis out there no matter who coached him we gotta for him dont you agree?

all i'm gonna say is i think we need more LBers than what you have...

Nice First Mock Draft. I think #12 might be a little bit of a stretch for Williams, but it really depends who is on the board then. I would be surprised if we waited until the 6th to take a RB, but I like it.

I agree that Cody is likely the best NT prospect in the draft, but I don't think that the difference between Cody and Williams is significant, ideally we'd trade down to the 16-18 range and pick up some extra picks in the 2nd and 3rd rounds which in my opinion is where the real value is in this draft, and still get Williams in round 1.

As far as getting more LB's, I have us drafting 2, Crowder and Ayodele are probably back as well as either JT or JP and Wake, not to mention we're likely to address that need in FA, I think if we commit any more than 2 picks to LB were over committing to one position.

Dexter McCluster for RB, or Noel Devine. They are both undersized, but explosive playmakers. That way, we don't have to reach for Spiller (for those who want to take SPiller at 12)...

I have no problem with Dan Williams at 12. It doesn't matter if we reach as long as the player pans out. And I prefer defense in this draft. We couldn't go wrong with Earl Thomas either.

I thought about Noel Devine, but his diminutive size scares me off. He is incredibly explosive, but i worry about his ability to take a hit (a la Pat White), He'd be a nice running back, but i think Tate is also explosive and has better size.

Cody is a 2 down player. Im not picking that at 12. same argument against williams.

No way Brandon Spikes is there in the second round. But even funnier is the notion that Danario Alexander and Ben Tate willl be drafted in the sixth round.
Dan Williams is a serious possibility for us.

guys that have extensive injury history will be medical red flags for a lot of teams...they easily can drop into the last 3 rounds...if not undrafted

regarding denario alexander it's a risk i wouldn't even take...

you think the guys gonna get more healthy in the pros than he was in college??? in the pros these guys get hurt it seems every week...the college game is flag football relative to the kind of damage these guys take in the pros...

No way. Danario Alexander is not a risk after the second round. Zero risk. Whatever the risk maybe it a greeaatly outweighed by the talent.

The fact that he has a history of injury really hurts him and the fact that he was the product of a pass happy system at Mizzou hurt his stock (See Colt Brennan, Davone Bess etc...).

There is also a panic syndrome in the NFL draft where if teams start passing, other teams get a bad vibe and think something is up and pass as well. If he slips past round 3 (not an unlikely prospect considering his injury troubles) he could slip to us in the 6th. Now, if he runs anything sub 4.5 at the combine he'll go day one without a doubt.

Michael Bush was in a wheelchair and got drafted in the fourth.

Willis McGahee was in a wheelchair and was drafted in the first.

No way. It has never happened that a talented player drops to 6th because he had a knee surgery 2 years ago.
