this draft was created using my own eyes in scouting college players, walterfootball.com's player rankings, scout.com and nfldraftscout.com.

Rd 1. Chris Long DE Virginia- I know some people think the other Long is the way to go, but i feel that a good tackle will still be on the board in the second round whereas a solid DE is a question mark in my opinion. He is a solid 3-4 tweener and will start from day one. had great combine numbers and is the best pick here that can help to improve our defense immediately.

Rd 2a. Antoine Cason CB Arizona-i've railed and railed for Cason to come here, i'm absolutely in love with his play at cornerback, having seen him play in person multiple times, he is the best cornerback in this draft and could one day become one of the best CB's in the NFL, he doesnt have ridiculous measurables, but his football smarts are unmatched. he's got the complete package and is a true leader on defense.

Rd 2b. Carl Nicks T Nebraska-i know a lot of people feel he'll be gone by this time, but a lot of teams have forgone taking O-line in the first 2 rounds because so many solid, cheaper options can be found in the later rounds and its also a day and age that rewards lines collectively (see Patriots, Vikings, Steelers) rather than those with the best star power (see Cleveland). Nicks is a beast, he's huge for starters, at 6'4'' 341, and moves well with a 5.12 40. He's a powerful run blocker and has the mobility to become a great pass blocker, anchors the outside of our line with Vernon Carey on the other side for years to come and gives us one of the best run blocking lines in the league.

Rd 3. Philip Wheeler LB Georgia Tech- I really like Wheeler, at 6'2'' 248 he has the size to play LB in a Parcells defense, he's a little slow on his 40, but hopefully will improve on his 4.76 time at his pro day. he has the ability to play both outside and inside backer, can get to the QB on the blitz (6 sacks on 07) and can also get up and attack the ball (4 picks in 06).

Rd 4. Josh Barrett SS Arizona St- a lot of people have him going sooner because of his measurables, 6'1'' 223 and a 4.35 40, however, he didnt make as many big plays in college as you would expect from a player with that kind of athletic ability and seemed to struggle with motivation issues. i've seen him projected anywhere from the 2-4 rounds, if he is still on the board when we kick off round 4, he's the pick. my feeling is he'll be there since Jamar Adams, Craig Steltz and Tom Zbikowski are all projected ahead of him, and none of them will go before the mid second round. He gives us a very athletic player who just needs his fire lit, the additions of him and Cason should make our secondary very formidable with an incredible combo of size and speed CB-Cason, Allen and Allen- both Allens have the speed to stay with any receiver and Jason and Antoine Cason both bring solid size to the equation, add in Barret who has killer size and speed, and add in Yeremiah Bells ability to fly to the ball and we have a major play making secondary.

Rd 5. no pick

Rd 6. Marcus Monk WR Arkansas- has amazing size, 6'4'' 222 and ran better than expected at the combine notching a 4.57 40. fits the mold of a possesion reciever and has the size to create mismatches from the slot, a deadly weapon in the red zone, especially when you take into account his 34.5 inch vertical--translation he can get well over ten feet in the air. has had some knee injuries but in round 6 there is little to no risk and he would come at a high reward if he performs--another thing to note, he performed well and put up numbers with a substandard QB at Arkansas.

Rd 7. Brandyn Dombrowski G SDSU-he's a huge kid at 6'6'' 335, and runs a 5.3 40, isnt highly regarded, but certainly has the physical tools to turn some heads, a great project o lineman in the last round, if nothing else he's a big body, and you can never had enough big bodies on the oline.

so there you have it. it's not perfect as there is no QB or TE, but those could potentially be addressed with comp picks, and FA is still in full swing so holes can still be filled. I feel that this draft is good value in each round, and gives us players that fill needs and give depth long term, it also addresses the most pressing needs of OL and secondary, with some front 7 help as well.

I think your mock draft is a very possible scenario, maybe not exactly with all these guys but in order of their positions it's very possible that we'll draft like this!

Two counterpoints:

1. Our new regime isn't very fond of lineman weighing much over 300 lbs.

2. I'd like to shy away from the "he didn't make many plays in college, but had a great combine" type players. Show us what you've got in the game, not in drills. That's what defines a "Parcells type guy".

Really like it. Maybe Collins over Nicks, but overall, really good draft.

i would like this draft very much. either long I would be very okay with at #1 overall. and after that, you addressed CB and LT which i think are DEFINATELY our biggest 2 needs this offseason. I like the philip wheeler pick in the 3rd if he's there, though maybe in the 4th i'd prefer a TE (Carlson?) over a SS. I somehow feel comfortable with Yeremiah Bell and Jason Allen at our Safety positions.. for this year at least. I like Monk and Dombrowski in later rounds because we do need depth at G and WR (I like Mormino at guard, so long as he doesn't get hurt again) also I feel that Ginn, Wilford and Kircus/Hagan is a good 1,2,3, combo. And Monk would give us that tall receiver that we have needed

I really like your draft and think it's pretty realistic to boot. I'd like to also turn you on to another late-round prospect for LB, Kroy Biermann. Here's a clip of his:

As for Parcells not liking linemen much over 300 lbs., I think you need to understand that 90% of those listed numbers for linemen weight are total PR ... or to put it another way, BS. They often are off by as much as 30 or 40 pounds. They list them at where they want people to think they are, not where they actually are much of the time.

WOW! That was one very impressive video, the instincts, the obvious desire, I heard he was good but to see it!

i did a little research on his measurables and he looks decent, good size at 6'3'' 246 and impressive bench with 29 reps, however he's a bit slow at 4.85 and that will be exposed at the higher level of competition. he also isnt very explosive, he ran a 2.8 20, meaning that he reached his top speed after the halfway point of his 40, because he ran the second 20 yards of it in 2.05. Still it looks like he's got the heart for the game and definetly the mind for it, could be a nice undrafted FA or late round pick, i see him becoming a special teams specialist a la Larry Izzo.

on point two i'd agree with you in most circumstances, however, think about it in a different way, his numbers are those of a 4th round pick, but his measurables are those of a first rounder, so if you can get him in he 4th round, its good value because he's got potential to improve on his performance. you wouldnt take him in the first, but in the 4th, its ok. Barrett's 2007 numbers were lackluster, but his 2006 numbers were impressive for a SS, with 82 tackles and 3 INT.
