here we go second time around....
Round 1) James Laurinaitis LB Ohio St.- i know i know, we need secondary. BUT when you can draft a guy like Laurinaitis (and i have a feeling he'll be there when we pick), you can't pass it up. He'll be the face of our defense, and he'll be mean and nasty in the middle. i know we'll be picking around the 20's but i think that some teams might rate Brandon Spikes ahead of Laurinaitis allowing him to slip a little. makes a great value pick here.
Round 2a) BJ Raji NT Boston College- you gotta love a big body on the inside that's going to push the o-line back and collapse the pocket and is going to require double teams allowing Porter even more room on the blitz. Raji is a great NT prospect, and should start for us his rookie season.
Round 2b) Mike Mickens CB Cincinnati- there are some other people i like here, but i honestly cant wait any longer to go secondary. he had 6 picks last year and 4 this year, he also has got a nice build at 6' 190, and should run in the mid 4.4's, if his 40 time slows his stock'll drop as some will consider him a possibility to shift to FS, as far as i'm concerned that doesnt bother me, we need help at all 4 secondary positions.
Round 3) Dennis Pitta TE BYU- put up RIDICULOUS numbers this year. at 6'5 250 he has plenty of size at the TE position, he also grabbed 78 balls for 1025 yards and 6 scores. has solid speed for a TE his size. Should fit the mold of a Parcells TE.
Round 4) Pat White Qb/WR West Virginia - i might catch a lot of flak for this pick, and understandably so. i thought about going o-line here but wasn't overly impressed, same with receiver, only some decent choices. i think since we went defense with the first three picks we need to go offense with the next 2. now before you start throwing things, White has got some killer speed, and could be a very viable Antwaan Randle El type. ALSO the biggest thing that sold me on this is the potential to use him in the Wildcat formation, defenses would be wetting themselves wondering 'is Ricky getting it? is Ronnie getting it? is Ronnie going to run or Pass? what about Pat White? are the going to throw it to him? is HE going to throw it?' he could be a huge asset as utility player on offense. He had a decent year passing the ball had a 63.6% completion percentage and only 6 picks. ran for almost a grand and 8 touchdowns, tossed for 18 as well. bottom line is he produces.
Round 5) Otis Wiley SS Michigan St. - time to go secondary again. Otis Wiley was an all Big-Ten selection, and had 4 picks this season. he's got size at 6'2 210, he might run a bit slow at the combine, but in the 5th round should be a high value pick.
Round 6) Ronnie Palmer LB Arizona- he's a big body at 6'3'' 245, his strengths have been somewhat underutilized at Arizona as he is adept at getting to the QB. He has good coverage skills and i feel that that's part of the reason he blitzed so rarely. he registered an impressive 11 TFL for minus 30 yards. he's a versatile player and someone who plays with a quiet passion (he isn't going to talk a lot, but he gives his heart and soul to every pay). Could potentially jump outside with his coverage ability, but might be too slow to do that at the next level.
Round 7) Jeremy Navarre DE Maryland - had 4.5 sacks in 2007, havent seen any numbers for him this year though. his 40 time is what will kill him as he isnt very quick, but he is a solid 3-4 end.
