I got laid off from my job on Friday, so I am at home with nothing more to do today. Here we go with my latest mock:

Round 1: Percy Harvin WR(Florida) 5'11" 195lbs.
After much deliberation, I have decided that our greatest need is in the defensive backfield-specifically at CB. There are a number of prospects available, but most(available) do not warrant a selection this high. I would really like to take Darius Butler here, but I don't think he will make it this far. With that said, what is our next biggest need? WR. There are really only two guys that are worthy of this pick and may be on the board when we pick: Nicks and Harvin. I like Nicks. He is got everything you would want in a receiver: good hands, size, tough and physical. But he lacks that explosiveness. What has this team been missing? A playmaker. Harvin is a playmaker. While there are legitimate concerns that in UF's offense Percy was just a weapon without a true position. He showed at his ProDay that he is more than versed at WR position. He has had to deal with that foot injury. I'd be more concerned with the injury if it were a knee tear or Turf toe like OJ McDuffie had(who by the way, if our team would have gotten him surgery would have been able to play longer). But Harvin will go over the middle and is an extremely tough competitor. He reminds me of Steve Smith for the Panthers.

Round 2a: Connor Barwin OLB(Cinncinnati) 6'4" 256lbs.
I would be estatic if Barwin would be here at this pick. He was originally a late 3rd - 4th round grade, but then came the combine and his ProDay. He ran a 4.66/40 at the combine and his stock rose. Then at the UC ProDay he ran a 4.47/40 which had a lot of scouts falling out of thier seats, looking at thier stop watches, and saying that can't be right. On top of this, he is a tireless worker and gives tremendous effort throughout the game. Combine the previous statement with the fact that he is extremely versatile in that he can play OLB, DE(if something catastrophic happened), TE, PR, and cover on STs. That is exactly the kind of versatility that Sparano has preached about ever since he became the HC. There are a couple of reasons that he may fall to this spot. He has only been playing the position for a season is still learning. He needs to get stronger at the POA. He will have to learn more moves as a pass rusher.

Round 2B: Jasper Brinkley ILB(South Carolina) 6'2" 252lbs.
Jasper has put any lingering questions about his knee injury to rest. He was impressive at his ProDay, showing fluidity in his postion drills. He stood by most of his numbers at the combine(I would have liked to see if he could have improved his 40 time), but he did run a 4.39 short shuttle and 6.92 3 cone drill(anything less than 7.00 is impressive, even for recievers). Jasper is a big, hard hitting monster against the run. He is a very sure tackler. Basically if he gets his hands on you, you are going down. He plays with aggression and moves very well laterally. He has to watch is weight. Playing at 252lbs. is a good weight for him, but he can not let the pounds go up to around 280 like he did last year in college.

Round 3: Mike Mickens CB(Cincinnati) 6'0" 185lbs.
Before his knee injury, Mickens was viewed by many as an All-American candidate. While he was able to participate in the Orange Bowl(albeit less than 100%), because of his injury he had to pull out of the combine and had to leave the Senior Bowl early. He was only cleared to run a month ago and was 85% when he performed at his ProDay. Even though he was not 100%, he put up very respectable numbers: 4.53/40, 35.5 vertical, 9'10" broad jump, short shuttle (4.19), and 3-cone (6.96). When healthy, Mickens is one of the best corners in the nation and a sure-fire 2nd round talent. He has explosive closing speed. He is physical, aggressive with great instincts and awareness. He is not afraid to stick his hat in the fray on run support. Because of the numbers put up at his ProDay I'm confident he can retrun to his previous form, but nothing is ever assured.

Round 4: Dorell Scott NT(Clemson) 6'3" 312lbs.
Perfect size for a NT. Plays the run and pass equally well. Does not wear down in games. He has a good work ethic and is very coachable, quick learner who will not make the same mistake twice. Sometimes he will get lax in his play. He can be streaky and needs someone to light a fire under him. But with our coaching staff, I don't think that will be a problem. He needs to learn more moves in his pass rush. His straight bull rush alone will not get it done in the NFL.

Round 5: Cornelius Lewis OT(TSU) 6'4" 324lbs.
A transfer from Florida St. to Tennessee St. At the practices and during the game at the Texas vs. Nation was the most dominate OL. In one-on-one match-ups, he was unbeatable. He really understands how to use his hands and feet to prevent the defender from threatening the QB. He plays with a tough, nasty and aggressive demeanor. He is very stout at the POA. He could shift inside to G or backup the RT position. He may have played a small school, but he is a big time talent.

Round 6: Jamarko Simmons WR(Western Michigan) 6'2" 241lbs.
Big, physical WR that likes contact. Taylor-made to play the slot. He finished his college career ranking 1st all-time in receptions and 3rd all-time in recieving yards. He broke the single season record with 104 receptions for 1276 yards and 7 TDs. He was named honorable mention All-American by Sports Illustrated.

Round 7A: Mark Parsons CB(Ohio) 5'10" 193lbs
He didn't get an invite from the Combine, but he was hand picked by Deion Sanders to attend his Prime U for cornerback prospects. Parsons is an instinctual player that has great make up speed. He shut down Brian Robiskie(3 catches for 8yds.) in a near upset of Ohio St. He has great strength for a player his size. It is really baffling why he is not mentioned more prominently when talking about top corner prospects coming out in 2009. I have seen many reports that state that he will make the smoothest transition from college to the Pros. He's a natural man to man cover player.

Round 7B: Joel Bell OT(Furman) 6'7" 315lbs.
Bell was a three-time All-Southern Conference selection. He was on multiple All-American lists this past year and became the third player in 4yrs to be invited to the combine from Furman. He won the league's Jacobs Award for being the top blocker.
Bell grew up playing soccer and basketball while living in Croatia and Egypt. He was also an accomplished discuss thrower in college. Bell is long and quick. Some say he is DE playing OT. His athleticism is impressive for a man of his size. He does have questions about his ability to deal with speed rushers. It has been stated that he will have to improve his lower body strength and balance.

Harvin- 0 respect for this draft right off the bat
Brinkley in the second?
Mikens in the third?
Did u try?

I know you hate Harvin, but what is wrong with Brinkley and Mickens.

On a side note, I can't stand your picture. Something about it makes me uncomfortable.

mickens wont fall to third, brinkley should be easily picked in 3rd round if we like him that much... btw I'd LOVE him in third, too early for second with the players available..

I'm not a harvin for round one, hell of a player, but not our 1st round need.
hes an upgrade over everyone except ginn. I still think we need that 6'2+ type WR. I'd rather just wait for 2a for Robiskie or Britt. If your hellbent on a WR then get Britt, at 6'4 he'll be a great redzone target. He's got tons of production being the leading receiver all time in ACC, 3,000+ yrds. Ran alot of great routes. He's not as talented as Harvin, however he'd be part of that "Right 53" not "best 53" that sparano preaches.

like the 4,5th
dude parsons is a 3rd round prospect, he's been that all year, he will NOT fall past 4th with his cover skills.. it's offensive you rate him so low, kid is a very good corner.
Joel Bell is a 4th-5th round pick..

Man you dont know anything about player ratings.

who is jamarcko? 241lbs? can he run? At that weight i don't see how he'd be better than wilford, who's main criticism is his speed.

bleh, not feelin this mock because player ratings are way off, harvin isn't needed right now, we have plenty of solid slot options.

We have a 0.00000000001% chance of this draft happening, if it did, We'd have agreat draft overall, so i guess you can be happy about that

Brinkley is not a second rounder,a dn Miekns wont make it to the third

I'm going to get banned right here and now because I'm tired of you and your punk bull****. The dude said that he just got laid off from his job last Friday and sent in a pretty darned good mock draft. Not only is the criticism unwarranted, you're a ****ing ******* for being such a dick to a guy who just lost his job. Go **** yourself you ****ing punk *******.

im starting to come around to harvin but it could be better. i do like brinkley but can probably wait til the third unless you believe he will be a superstar. I think he will be a very solid LB in nfl so i wouldnt reach for him. Im also not a big fan of barwin... when you got a guy who played TE and DE (for 1 year) in college then want to convert him to DE, I know he is versatile but he is a big ? in terms of being able to translate great into the NFL as 3-4 OLB. Dont get caught up in all the hype these guys got at the combine... the combine is way overrated

I'm sorry skippy but I have to agree. When you say stuff like "did u try?" at the end...especially after the guy typed out something that looks like 2,000 words, it's just disrespectful and makes you look very, very stupid. You may be a good guy and you may even be smart, but saying stuff like you've generally said in response to most peoples' mock drafts on here makes you sound like a dumb douchebag. Again, I know that may not be true of you at all, but that's certainly how it comes off.

Must admit with the laid off stuff aside thats life and have been there , you could have been a little more respectful.

I cant stand it for another reason. Only the worst thing to happen to music in years lol.

I completely agree. His only responses to mock drafts seem to be one or two sentence insults.

mickens wont fall to third,
I disagree. Mickens is going in the 3rd. he may not make it to us but he won't go in the second.
brinkley should be easily picked in 3rd round if we like him that much... btw I'd LOVE him in third, too early for second with the players available..
Brinkley is going to go long before we pick in the third. If we want him it is going to be at 2b.

You could be right.

Joel Bell is a 4th-5th round pick..
I think he falls.

Jamarko Simmons is a guy that uses his size and athleticism to get open. He runs a 4.6/40. I know that and I am sure he does too. If you know how to get separation and sheild the defender from the ball, you can use that to your advantage. Just ask Anquan Boldin, a guy that alot of people wanted in FA. Oh yeah, he does one thing that Wilford does not, he catches the ball.
And as for ratings go back and look at how close the ratings are to what actually happened in the draft. You might be able to get close in the first 2 or 3 rounds, but after that it is a crap shoot.
