Re-sign Nate Garner
Sign Mike Wallace ($12m)
Sign Eric Winston ($5m)
Sign Osi Umenyiora ($6m)
Sign Ed Reed/Charles Woodson @ FS ($5m)*
=$28m + $6m for draft picks= $34m
*One of the good things IMO about signing vets on their last leg is that they show young bucks how to be pros, while also coming off the books sooner rather than later. For instance, I see Woodson/Reed taking Reshad Jones game to a whole new level..
1 (12) - Tyler Eifert TE Notre Dame
2 (42) + 3 (82) to move up and draft Desmond Trufant or Xavier Rhodes. One has instincts, the other physicality. Both will be studs.
2 (?) - Stedman Bailey (Davone Bess' eventual replacement)
3 (77) Barret Jones OG/C Alabama
4, 5, 7, 7.....Draft BPA from the SEC (tackle, guard, running back, linebacker).
WR-Mike Wallace, Brian Hartline, Davone Bess, Rishard Matthews, Stedman Bailey
TE-Tyler Eifert, Micheal Egnew, Charles Clay
QB-Ryan Tannehill, Matt Moore, Pat Devlin
FB- Charles Clay, Jovorskie Lane
RB-Lamar Miller, Daniel Thomas, Jonas Gray, draft pick
OL-Jonathan Martin, Eric Winston, John Jerry, Nate Garner, Will Yeatman, Richie Incognito, Josh Samuda, Barret Jones
LB-Karlos Dansby, Koa Misi, Kevin Burnett, Josh Kaddu, Austin Spitler
S- Reshad Jones, Woodson/Reed, Jonathan Amaya, Jimmy Wilson
CB- Trufant/Rhodes, Richard Marshall, Dmitiri Patterson, Deandre Presley, RJ Stanford
DL- Cameron Wake, Randy Starks, Big Paul Soliai, Jared Odrick, Osi Umenyiora, Kheeston Randall, Olivier Vernon
Time to mix young pups with old dogs and go for it all. With the amount of draft picks we have, and the veteran contracts for 2-3 year time frames, we should be comfortable in terms of salary cap for years to come.
On offense, Mike Wallace is Mike Wallace. Him being ABLE to excel at the 9 route creates space and seperation for everyone else. Tyler Eifert IMO will be a first down/touchdown machine for years to come, and will QUICKLY become Ryan Tannehill's best friend. Hartline's route running against #2 corners and his comfort with Tannehill should consistently move the chains. Davone Bess, playing alongside Wallace and Eifert, will make a pro bowl. Play action will terrify defenses, and Lamar Miller, who averaged nearly 6 yards per carry on limited touches last year, will have even more space. Daniel Thomas, who isn't the most instinctual of running backs, will also benefit from a much more open field. Charles Clay at FB (assuming his blocking is up to par) could easily slip past defenses with the newfound weaponry all over the field.
On defense, Wake and Umenyiora complement each other perfectly. Osi has the strength to set the edge (like Odrick) but can also eat up the QB thanks in part to Cameron Wake pushing the QB in his direction (Wake rushes wide, Osi bull rushes and adjusts according to the Qb's reaction.) Randy Starks and Paul Soliai...we already know what they do. The pressure should be sufficient that there isn't too much pressure on the corners, and Woodson/Reed and Reshad Jones can ball hawk, bully, and make plays.
Let me know if u find any gaps in my logic. Next years priorities will be DT, OG, LB, CB.
