1. Oakland Raiders – Calvin Johnson, wide receiver, Georgia Tech. Al Davis seems to like Andrew Walter and he maybe given the chance to lead the team. Can the men in black afford to pass on the best player in the draft and an elite prospect? No chance. Johnson should flourish as the Raiders go bomb happy.
2. Detroit Lions – Joe Thomas, offensive tackle, Wisconsin. The Lions need hogs upfront and Thomas is the franchise LT any team would want. Surely Millen cant pass up the opportunity to land a top LT and make the Lions offense better?
3. Cleveland Browns - Brady Quinn, QB, Notre Dame. Quinn gets his dream ticket. This big Browns fan lands in Cleveland and Crennell bags the man that might save his job for another couple of years. Quinn should have the ability to contribute in his first year.
4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Gaines Adams, defensive end, Clemson. Adams brings his speed and pash rushing threat to Tampa, as the Bucs move on from the Simeon Rice era. An outstanding athlete that could play OLB in a 3-4 pro scheme.
5. Arizona Cardinals - Alan Branch, DL, Michigan. Grabbing the wide-body of Branch here, alongside Darnall Dockett, will solidify the centre of the Cards D-Line and freeing up Karlos Dansby and co. to make the plays.
6. Washington Redskins - Jamaal Anderson, DE, Arkansas. The Skins look to improve its D-Line and get a pass rushing threat. By drafting Anderson here, the Skins get a sackmaster with plenty of upside and skills.
7. Minnesota Vikings - Jamarcus Russell, QB, LSU. The Vikes bring in Russell and will look to get a WR in the second round to give the team a long term QB-WR combo. The second coming of C-Pepp will make those cold, snowy days in Minny more bearable.
8. Atlanta Falcons - LaRon Landry, S, LSU. A ballhawk and playmaker will give new HC Bobby Petrino a cornerstone to build his team around. Safeties of this calibre dont come around very often and the Falcs have the chance to upgrade its defense and give opposing offenses major headaches.
9. Miami Dolphins - Levi Brown, LT, Penn St. Coach Cameron has gone on record to say the team will build the offensive line through the draft and by drafting Brown here, the team get a long term starting tackle.
10. Houston Texans - Reggie Nelson, Safety, Florida. Nelson, a superb athlete and playmaker, will improve the Texans in the middle of the park. Having C.C. Brown and Glenn Earl as your starters is not great but Nelson would be an instant upgrade.
11. San Francisco 49ers - Patrick Willis, LB, Ole Miss. The Niners have done well upgrading the defense so far this offseason and getting Willis here brings another key piece to Mike Nolan's new look defense.
12. Buffalo Bills - Adrian Peterson, RB, Oklahoma. With the loss of MacGahee, Fletcher and Clements, the Bills have some big shoes to fill. I think they go for Peterson here as his value is far too good to ignore at this spot. An outstanding player who will ease the pressure on Losman's shoulders.
13. St. Louis Rams - Amobi Okoye, DT, Louisville. Coach Linehan upgraded the offense during free agency and drafting Okoye here gives the Rams a player with plenty of upside and youth that could lead the Rams for well over the next decade, and adding potency against oppposing rushing attacks.
14. Carolina Panthers - Paul Poluszny, OLB, Penn St. With the question mark hanging over Dan Morgan, John Fox drafts Poz here. A playmaker and leader, Poz should be a good LB at this level and will stiffen the Panthers defense.
15. Pittsburgh Steelers – Jarvis Moss, DE, Florida. A 4-3 end or a 3-4 OLB? Drafting Moss eases the loss of Porter and gives Mike Tomlin's defense a potent and versatile weapon who should be an impact pass rusher at this level.
16. Green Bay Packers – Marshawn Lynch, RB, California. After the loss of Ahman Green, the Pack draft Lynch and will have an All-Cal backfield (once Favre retires). Lynch is a strong tough runner with a nose for the endzone.
17. Jacksonville Jaguars - Adam Carriker, DL, Nebraska. Though he can play at DT, he will be projected to play at end for the Jags giving them a threat opposite a fit again Reggie Hayward. Has always been productive and nothing should change much at this level.
18. Cincinnati Bengals - Leon Hall, CB, Michigan. Hall is too good to pass on at this spot. With Tory James aging and O'Neal having some issues, the Bengals need a CB and Hall is the aggresive, playmaker that will boost the Cincy secondary.
19. Tennessee Titans - Ted Ginn Jr., WR, Ohio State. The Titans have some solid recievers but Ginn's speed and playmaking ability on offense and special teams make him a good selection here. Vince Young will be chuffed to see such a offensive weapon land in Tennessee.
20. New York Giants – Darrelle Revis, CB, Pittsburgh. The Giants will look to Revis to become a shutdown corner and have an big impact on punt returns. Revis is good and aggressive and will help out against the run.
21. Denver Broncos – Anthony Spencer, DE, Purdue. An excellent athlete with good speed who will become the impact pass rusher that the team currently lacks. Has always been productive and should be a good pro.
22. Dallas Cowboys – Marcus McCauley, CB, Fresno St. McCauley has good size and outstanding speed, and he will sure up the CB spot opposite Terence Newman. The Cowboys secondary looks very good on paper - Newman, Williams, Hamlin and McCauley.
23. Kansas City Chiefs – Robert Meachem, WR, Tennessee. KC does not have a outstanding recieving threat and Meachem has excellent speed and size with big play ability and some upside.
24. New England Patriots – Michael Griffin, S, Texas. With Rodney Harrison a season from retirement, Belichick will bring in Griffin now to learn the ropes before taking over the leading role in the 2008 season. Athletic, experienced and playmaking ability he will fit the Pats mould nicely.
25. New York Jets – Greg Olsen, TE, Miami. Olsen will be a good pickup for the fast improving Jets and Pennington will love to utilize Olsen's good size and speed as a safety valve and downfield threat.
26. Philadelphia Eagles – Dwayne Jarrett, WR, USC. Jarrett will fill the void that Donte Stallworth left. A vastly different player to Stallworth, Jarrett does have plenty of experience in big games and against top competition. Sure handed and will complement Reggie Brown.
27. New Orleans Saints – Chris Houston, CB, Arkansas. Houston has excellent speed and athleticsm. The current starting CBs arent great, Houston should well be able to make an impact within his rookie season.
28. New England Patriots – Lawrence Timmons, OLB, Florida State.
Age is creeping through the Pats linebacking crew, so drafting a LB here makes a whole heap of sense. Tiimons is a good athlete, a playmaker and is versatile enough to play in the 3-4 and the 4-3. Sounds like a Belichick kinda guy.
29. Baltimore Ravens – Justin Blalock, OG, Texas. With the departure of Ed Mulitalo, there is a vacancy at the guard spot and Blalock is probably the best one in the draft and his outstanding size and strength will keep Steve McNair off the turf during the next season.
30. San Diego Chargers – John Beason, LB, Miami. With Donnie Edwards leaving, Beason should be able to step in and contribute from day one. Versatile and hard hitting, expect to see Beason banging heads on both defense and on special teams.
31. Chicago Bears – Ben Grubbs, OG, Auburn. With the Bears front five being solid but aging, look for Chicago to begin the rebuild by drafting the hard working and improving Grubbs here.
32. Indianapolis Colts – Brandon Meriwether, S, Miami. With Mike Doss moving onto newer pastures, the newly created vacancy in the Indy secondary will be filled by this playmaking and instinctive safety out of Miami.
Quinn would be my preferred first round selection and I think to get him, Cam will have fingers crossed that the Browns pass him up. If they do, we should make every effort to trade down to get him. Failing that, I would prefer the Phins to trade down and gain an additional second and 6th round picks and then select Staley around the 15th spot mark.
