ROUND 1
Vontae Davis-Cb Illinois
How this special talent gets lost in the shuffle and falls to us, I have no idea. He's arguably the best pure cornerback in the draft as he can cover and play the run. He has what Parcells love which is size and strength.
Others: Darius Butler CB UConn, Brian Cushing ILB USC (stock is dropping fast) Hakeem Nicks WR UNC
(From all the mocks I've seen, Clay Matthews is the hottest pick. I think with his really fast time he just posted at the USC pro day, and the Patriots love for grabbing LBs, I think he's gone by our 25th pick.

ROUND 2a
Clint Sintim-OLB Virginia

Another guy who gets lost in the shuffle and free falls. His name hasnt been mentioned much in the pre-draft but he is perfect as a 3-4 linebacker and his Al Groh/Parcells connection makes this pick a little easier than most 2nd round picks.
Others: Larry English OLB Northern Illinois, Kenny Britt WR Rutgers, Connor Barwin Cincinatti (1 year of defensive play scares me but watch his combine, the guy is a sick athlete and the Fins are enamored by him)

ROUND 2b
Duke Robinson-OG Oklahoma
Sticking with my theme of superior talent that continue to fall. The Fins finally go offense with this mauler of an offensive guard. This All-American talent has the talent to start right away and will push Donald Thomas and/or Justin Smiley.
Others: Kraig Urbik OG Wisconsin, Herman Johson OG LSU, Brian Robiskie WR OSU

ROUND 3
Chris Baker-NT Hampton
Dolphins took Kendal Langford from Hampton last year and they go back and get Baker to be the future anchor of their Dline. He played in the 3-4 system so he knows the technique and is very athletic for a 6'2 330 pound guy (36" vertical). With a lot of teams switching to the 3-4 and the NT the most important position of the 3-4, Baker goes earlier than expected.
Others: Terrance Taylor NT Michigan, Mike Mickens CB Cincinatti, Pat White ATH West Virginia

ROUND 4
Jasper Brinkley-ILB South Carolina
Intriguing ILB. Hard-hitting tackler that could go earlier to a 3-4 team if they aren't scared of his ACL tear in '07.
Others: Jason Phillips ILB TCU, Antonio Appleby ILB Virginia

ROUND 5
Don Carey- CB Norfolk State
I'm not even going to try and give insight on the guy. All I know is that the Fins are supposedly really high on this guy as a day 2 prospect. We could definitely use all the help we can get at the CB position.

I'm not going to speculate on Round 6 and 7 as that is nearly impossible.

Reasons for draft put in place:

-Our biggest need is definitely CB.
-I chose two, one being V. Davis, a premiere talent who could challenge Will Allen as the number 1 Corner.
-I did not go offense outisde of D Robinson
-I believe, as they did last year, the Fins FO will find Offensive line and WR help after the draft.
-I believe next year, the Fins go for that big time WR talent but
-With Pennington's lack of explosion in his arm, the FO is content with our possession recievers of Bess and Camarillo.

I like it...a lot! The first three are interchangeable, in my opinon, with Connor Barwin, Sean Smith, and Herman Johnson but any mix of those six with the rest of your picks and I would be STOKED! Good Job!

Thanks bro...

A lot of people are really high on Sean Smith on this board but theres a reason there arent a lot of tall corners. I think his height, although intriguing could be a weakness. But hey, he was a playmaker in a pass-happy conference and he's a youtube legend with his sick INT

I just figure that 4 of our games each year for the forseeable future will involve TO or Moss and having a big, tall corner that won't be so easily outjumped would be a major help. Smith is the tallest CB of the top tier and, like you said, had a lot of success against some heavy passing offenses. I wouldn't be disappointed with him, Davis, or Alphonso Smith of Wake Forest (he has killed the 'Noles and broke my heart).

Nice mock, even though I want a reciever, i would take this any day...we can draft a receiver in 6 or 7 and go heavy with an UDFA....

Our D would be stout next year and fun to watch with this draft.

Not bad. I would take mine over yours minus getting Robinson at 2b. That would rock! I like Baker as well. I could take your two there and supplant them to mine and I would have an upgrade.

By the way, don't understand how people could be scared by one year at LB for Barwin after playing three years at TE. I would think the guy could cover any TE in the league better than any friggin LB out there.

Why do so many people want to draft Brinkley??? He is a gross underacheiver.

I think if we draft Sintim, it will be with the #56, and he will play ILB; which a lot of people think he can actually be better at.

Davis would be a dream at #25.

Baker is probably another Manny Wright and if we spend our 3rd on him I'm going to something highly questionable.

Carey in the 5th is a reach.

What about our other 3 picks?

I think that Barwin's ability in coverage and comfortability in space make him a real threat to be a great OLB. He could also be put in goal line situations as a legitimate offensive threat as well. This guy would be a great addition, especially if we could get him in the second round.

Thats a great Mock draft but.....How do you know if those guys are going to be available? Now that Miami is picking towards the bottom of the draft its a lot harder to predict who they will draft. After the top 10-15 picks its so tough if not nearly impossible to predict which teams will draft which players.

So I guess we will have to wait and see who is available on draft day when the Dolphins are on the clock.....then I will make my prediction/wish.

I like it. Would like to see a receiver taken though. I've heard some people suggest Brandon Tate outta UNC. I like the guy but he's coming off a major knee injury. Risky pick. Probably should wait til the 4th or 5th if we did that.
