If Jordan Phillips has a chance to keep the starting job the rest of the year: "I would say yeah. I don't see why not. There again, he's got to continue to produce in that role. Earl Mitchell will come back and we all know what Earl is when he's healthy. He gets in there and nobody gives more effort than Earl does, and he can be disruptive as well. I would say it's good problem to have, and certainly, having Earl back will give us a nice rotation. At the least, you have a good three-man rotation in there between Suh, Phillips and Earl."
### On if he feel more confident that more balance on offense is the approach moving forward: ""Yeah, I would say so. Just, I'm a big believer in that you do need more balance. I'll say it again: We did what we needed to do to win that game yesterday. We ran it well. Defense played really good football. It's a good formula."
### On what he liked: "The D-line is penetrating upfield. Koa Misi was lights out, that guy, I mean he was lighting the fullback up, he was in the backfield. Sheppard was coming downhill, Jelani was coming downhill. We established the line of scrimmage. We played on their side of the ball."
### The time of possession was roughly 38-22, Baltimore, and total plays was 75-46. Is that OK because you won?
"Because we got a win it’s OK. But, no, ideally if you’re going to run it the way we run it you want to be able to own the time of possession so, yeah, I would like for that to be in our favor. It’s not a matter of the fact that we only threw it 19 times, you would like to have a higher completion percentage.
"So when we do throw it we need to connect on those and you would hope those would be explosive plays as well. So that in itself is something that we need to be better at. But we knew what kind of game this was going to be. We felt like we had the favorable matchups defensively versus their offense. We felt like we could get pressure on Schaub, which we did. We felt like we could shut their run game down. This, to me, it’s a field position game, it’s a line up, establish the run game, throw it when you have to throw it, let your defense pin them back, and make them earn everything that they were going to get. And we did that."
On DeVante Parker's role when Rishard Matthews comes back: "That’s hard to say. Just because of where Rishard Matthews has been and knowing the production he’s got when he comes back. I don’t want to just say yes or no one way or another. I’ll say this DeVante Parker’s getting better. And with every play he makes it’s going to be harder to get him off the field."
### So just how much did Tannehill get to audible Sunday?
“There were some plays that we had changed at the line of scrimmage,” he said. “So, you know, we weren't changing the way we do things completely. Obviously we had a few things that were different but it's not like we were audibiling every play or anything like that."
Dan Campbell said: “We had some audible checks in there for the runs. There were a few routes that we changed. A few, a couple, a few. There were things in there that certainly we'll build off of, we need to be better at. Communication overall. But yeah, he had a few changes in there to get us to the right place."
The Dolphins’ offensive numbers keep tumbling. They’re now 29th in yards per game, remain 31st in third down percentage (28th) and are 27th in points, at exactly 20 per game.
### Of course, it’s hard to get the ball a lot to all of your weapons when you have only 48 plays, as the Dolphins did Sunday. (The Ravens had 78, by comparison).
Of those 48, Jarvis Landry and DeVante Parker each played 43, Kenny Stills (in and out with an ankle injury) 21, Greg Jennings 6 and Matt Hazel 3.
With the renewed emphasis on the running game, Dion Sims played 37 snaps at tight end, compared with 31 for Jordan Cameron and 8 for Jake Stoneburner.
Lamar Miller had 32 snaps at running back. But curiously, Damien Williams (seven) played almost as much as Jay Ajayi (9).
### Defensively, the Dolphins have moved away from the safety platoon opposite Reshad Jones. Michael Thomas played 67 of 78 snaps, Shamiel Gary 10 and Walt Aikens just 2.
The Dolphins were so beat up at defensive tackle that Robert Thomas, claimed last week off the Patriots’ practice squad, played 21 snaps before he was injured. Jordan Phillips played 57.
The Dolphins played only three cornerbacks: Brent Grimes (all 78 snaps), Bobby McCain (67) and Brice McCain (41).
The Dolphins continued giving Quinton Coples a Dion Jordan-type workload (24 snaps).
### Pro Football Focus gave its best grades to Olivier Vernon and Derrick Shelby. Its worst went to right guard Billy Turner (minus 7.0.)
