I just caught a rerun of the ESPN show Cold Pizza, specifically the 1st and 10 segment with Woody Paige and Skip whoever and boy am I mad. The question posed to each person was how many SuperBowls would Marino have won if he was on the 49ers. Woody said NONE and Skip said 1. Woody's argument was that he threw too many INTs. He compared Montana's and Marino's stats everyyear that the 49ers went to the SuperBowl. Yes, Marino had many more INTs as well as many more TDs and Attempts, but he didn't mention the TDs or attempts. He only said Marino maid to many mistakes cuz he tried to do it all with his arm. HELLO!! He tried to do it with his arm, because he didn't have the complete team like the 49ers. If Woody would give the man his due, than he would have answered the question corectly. The question was in fact, if Marino had been on a team where he didn't have to shoulder the full load, how many superbowls would he have won. He just kept going on why he didn't win a SuperBowl with Miami, which had alot more to do with the rest of his team and not his right arm. Skip said 1 superbowl, but said Marino was too stubborn to give way to a running game, as an example he said when Shula was here he didn't want to run the ball, I know Im young but I dont remember much of a running game. Also said when Jimmy came in Marino didnt want to give in to the running game. What running game did we have? I dont like to think of Marino as a 9er, so lets pose the question if the Dolphins had a supporting cast like the 49ers how many SuperBowls would he have? I say 6. Oh and by the way, ESPN sucks, they hate the Dolphins and all current and former players. Give the man his due.

Don't listen to those clowns.

Seriously.

Hey, does Woody Paige know that Dan Marino was the least sacked QB, and THREW THE FEWEST INTERCEPTIONS per pass attempts???

It's true. Go look it up.

ESPN makes me mad sometimes... IMO if marino had a team like the 9ers he would of been the Best QB ever to play the game and there would be no argument... PPl would not say well he never won a ring cause i think he would of won a few rings...

Atahoose Two Can Be Clowns At Times.dan I Believe Had A 1000 Yard Runner Only Once.the Guy Could Only Do So Much.if He Was On The 49ers He Would Have Won His Share A Bowls

WHATTTT, on NFL Live right now they first talk about Steve Young and how great he was blah, blah. Then they come back from commercial and say "Oh and lets not forget another member of the Hall of Fame class of 2005, Dan Marino. The man who holds almost all of the NFLs passing records. But he never won a ring" Why do they feel the need to always bring that up? Theyre driving me insane!!!

That was Trey Wingo. He's the biggest tool out of all of them.

You know, if ESPN was smart, they would kiss Dan's butt, because Dan is way more popular than Young.

The only other three who compare to Dan in popularity are Montana, Elway and Favre.

But we all know their producer puts a gag order on anything good to say about the Fins or Dan.

That's why I watch ESPN as little as possible.

If our running game support was so good, when are we going to Canton to see Sammie Smith, Lorenzo Hampton, Karim Jabbar, Troy Stradford get inducted?

im ashamed to say woody represents my state of colorado... he said some of the same things about elway not being a winner... elway owns a champion team and a damn car dealership. so dont listen to that ***, he knows nothing

One more thing before I totally flip. The so called experts say someone like Culpepers stats will drop because Moss left the Vikings. and they all say how good Moss can make a QB look. Well lets not forget who Montana and Young played with. The best receiver ever, JERRY RICE!!!! But apparently Rice didn't make those QBs better than they really were. Yeah Marino had Clayton and Duper, but it worked the opposite way. Marino made Clayton and Duper what they were, he didnt need the games greatest WR to help his stats.

One of the guys on Rome is Burning just said Marino played at West Virginia. ARRRGGGHH!

Skip Bayless is just ESPN's #1 nattering nabob of negativity, so I'm shocked that he gave a higher number than Woody Paige. My sympathies go out to anyone who have had to listen to Skip's "Hall of Very Good" arguments. Fact is Marino is a Hall of Famer on Sunday without a Super Bowl ring. These arguments mean absolutely squat.

And I'm not worried about Culpepper's ability as much as Nate Burleson's ability. I think that's why they're expecting Daunte's stats to drop. I mean, you see what happens when you give a great QB like McNabb WRs like FredEx Ground Mitchell.

i think he would have won 5 super bowls, if he was with the 49ers.......umm lets see, Steve Young, sucked a$s with the buccaneers, then you throw him on the great 49ers, and hes unstoppable.....its hard telling how good marino would have been for them

There is no compelling reason to not think that he would have won with a better team. Some of Marino's best chances were screwed up because of injuries, defensive breakdowns, lack of a go to running game, etc. I compare his situation with Manning's because Manning is today looked at as the best quarterback in the game from a pure QB standpoint. However, you have to say that Brady has shown the ability to win the big games, but that is because of the better team he has employed. And I don't even think that Marino's problems were the lack of a running game.......the defense was never that good when he was in his prime. It was just becoming great when he was going downhill. That was the biggest reason why he never won. No one could stop Marino for a whole game when he was in his prime. Miami could always score points, but they could not stop anyone. They did not have a Ronnie Lott led D like the Niners, or a Ray Lewis led D that made a winning QB out of Trent Dilfer :shakeno:. He could have won without a RB, but he couldn't do it without the "D". Remember, offense sells tickets, Defense wins championships! That was Marino's stumbling block to a title and it will continue to be Peyton's!!
