Possible additional prospects are Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops, Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz, Colts assistant head coach Jim Caldwell, 49ers defensive coordinator Mike Singletary, Ravens defensive coordinator Rex Ryan, Lions offensive coordinator Mike Martz and Giants defensive coordinator Tim Lewis.
The Dolphins maintain they are talking to many prospects to get the best group of candidates for the job. Before coming to the Dolphins, Bailey worked at Russell Reynolds Associates, where he did executive searches for Fortune 500 companies and professional franchises.
This is the first true coaching search the Dolphins have performed in the franchise's history. Don Shula, Jimmy Johnson, Dave Wannstedt and Nick Saban either were anointed successors or the team's top target from the outset

If you interview too many guys then you run the risk of selecting based on the actual interview (who stoood out the most) rather than the best credentials. Obviously there's more to head coaching than "nailing the interview", I HOPE Bailey understands that.

Is Rex Ryan related to Oakland's Rob Ryan?

So by 'possible additional prospects' mean that quite simply the writer is guessing at everything? Guessing their might be more interviews and guessing who they might be?

Possibly

It looks like the organization would ask Shula and Marino to be a part of the interview process. Who's opinion would you trust more on hiring a new coach, their's or some front office people who've probably never coached or played the game in their life?

What about George Wilson? Didn't they do a coach search for him? Or did they know he was the guy when they started the franchise?

But you also have the opportunity to listen to a multitude of philosophies, strategies and personalities and select the one that suits our organization the best. At least with this approach, we leave nothing on the table. We won't be able to say we shoulda coulda woulda.
