Every running play potentially takes a little bit out of the defense, drive blocking at their skulls. Wimpy flare passes are just another opportunity to tee off at the QB, defense hitting offense not vice versa. Any announcer who says it's the equivalent of a running play should be fired on the spot, just like that Dolphin writer who reported we were trying to trade Zgonina for a 3rd.
