Jaylon Smith slipping out the 1st Round. Would you take him in Round 2?

could be the steal of the draft in the 2nd, could be the worst use of a 2nd EVER, depends on multiple medical opinions...and then a few intangibles, too early and too little medical info to tell...

No freakin way.

I'd be willing to throw a 5th or 6th round pick at Jaylon Smith and sit him for the year and see what you have next year.

Probably a late rounder at this point, possibly as high at 4th.

It would depend on what my medical staff had to say.

IF there is nerve damage then the kid is done, if not there is a chance he will recover.

I don't know about a 2nd rounder but I would certainly gamble a 4th or later if i thought he would eventually be able to play.

5th is the earliest I'd spend on him and I'm a huge homes for him

Hes going to miss the year and may never be the same player or even play again. Nerve damage in his knee.....anything before a 7th rounder is too early imo.

I agree. You have to get production out of earlier draft picks and it is just too much of a risk with him. The 5th is where you can(unlike Jeff Ireland i.e. Pat White) start taking some chances on guys.

In today's salary cap game, a 2nd rounder needs to contribute immediately. If his injury was a clean tear with no nerve damage, then yes, i would entertain it because he was a top 3-5 player in this draft. But as catastrophic as it seems with little to no hope of playing this year (and maybe never being fully healthy again).....you just can't.

if I remember the report the other day stated "nerve damage" in both "knee and ankle". I believe we need to move on. If he's around after the draft I can see take a shot, but this team has too many holes to be wasting ANY pick. I believe in miracles, but we just can't afford this risk at this time. Best of luck to him for sure.

La'el Collons' drop last yr will seem like a drop in the bucket compared to what Smith will do.

That said, watch the Seahawks take him in the 6th this yr.
