Mutual interest between Ross and Marino joining front office

Dolphins owner Stephen Ross has interest in Dan Marino becoming involved with the franchise but likely not in a powerful role, such as director of football operations, barring a change of heart. Problem is, Marino wants a meaningful role, according to an associate. There’s a decent chance they compromise and find one.

The timing seems right. I have no problem with Dan in the front office, he will certainly command respect by everyone in the organization

If I was Ross, I would retire looking at Carl Peterson for team advice and make Marino the right hand man. Don't give Marino power over the coach and GM, but let him have a strong voice in the process of making the tough decisions of hiring and firing people.

I don't think it would be a good move for Marino to become Ross' neutered figurehead... If Marino thought that the WannSpiel setup was dysfunctional, wait til he witnesses the Aponte/Philbin/Hickey conglomerate...

The only way Marino should come to the Dolphins' front office is if he resides above Aponte and her toadies on the Totem Pole. Otherwise, the arrangement will only harm his image in the eyes of Dolphins fans once the whole thing comes crumbling down.
