My Power Rankings-

1. PIT – defending SB champs who are one of the best (if not the best) defenses in the game, great QB, and solid offense. Team didn’t change that much this offseason. This team knows how to win, and might go back to the SB.
2. PHI – great QB, one of the top offenses in the league, pretty good defense, and if they can stay healthy they can go the distance. This year’s popular pick to go to the SB, but I think their defense will be the achilles heel of this team, preventing them to make a SB appearance.
3. IND – what else do you need than one of the best QB’s of all time? This team is strong across the board, good offense and good defense. Injuries have plagued them the past couple of years in key places. If they stay healthy, Manning will lead this team to victory.
4. NO – potent offense, ability to score from any position on the field, and the man that almost got our record, Drew Brees. Only question mark on this team is the defense. If the defense stays strong, watch out.
5. GB – will be this year’s surprise team. Great offense with second year starter Rodgers leading this young team. Defense is stout with Don Capers calling the plays, has looked great so far with a lot of takeaways.
6. MIN – stifling defense paired with a good offense led by the best back in the league. Favre doesn’t really help this team if they don’t make the SB, just messes up the development of Jackson. If this team had a good, young QB, they would be SB contenders.
7. NYG – good defense that pressures the QB all day long. Offense is a running offense with question marks at WR, this might cause teams to stack the box on them.
8. SD – this team seems to always have the right pieces in place but can’t pull it together. Great team across the board, great offense with good defense with Merriman coming back. The only question mark is Norv Turner, and that’s a big one.
9. BALT – offense looks better than last year with second year QB Flacco leading the way. If defense plays like it did last year, this team can go pretty deep.
10. NE – I think the media would kill me if they knew I had NE this low. Great offense, but what about their defense? Some new leaders will have to step up. Tom Brady’s not going to be the same, especially if teams put pressure on him.
11. ARI – great offense with an ok defense. I wish we had 3 1000 yard receivers in a year. The only question is if Warner can do it again. This team played well when it had to, but their defense is suspect.
12. MIA – if our safeties start covering people, we can be a top 5 defense in the league. Still some question marks on the offense, like will our line open up some holes and will our receivers step up to the plate, but with Pennington leading the way, we should do just fine.
13. DAL – average defense that gets some pressure. Pretty good offense, but question marks at receiver. Williams is not an upgrade over the departed Owens. Romo is a good QB that can lead this team to victories if his receivers hold on to the ball.
14. TEN – the loss of Hansworth diminishes the effectiveness of this defense. Over the offseason the offense got better while the defense got worse. A slide back from last year.
15. ATL – some superstars on offense, but can the offense constantly get themselves out of the hole that their defense puts them in.
16. WASH – average team across the board. Can win games with Campbell if he becomes more consistent.
17. CHI – Cutler brings a gun to this offense, but doesn’t have any established receivers to throw the ball to. Good solid defense will help this team win some games this year.
18. SEA – if their QB can stay healthy, this team can be formidable. Very underrated defense, but an aging offense. Should do well this year.
19. HOU – average team with a pretty good offense, particularly Andre Johnson. The question is if their QB can stay healthy to stabilize their offense.
20. NYJ – an above average defense paired with a below average offense. There are some big question marks on offense, namely rookie QB and a WR stable void of legitimate talent.
21. TB – very strong defense against the run. The only question is if their offense will get the train rolling to win some games.
22. CAR – this low due to their defense not being able to stop the run at all. Can Delhomme win some games for them with very good WR’s and RB’s?
23. JAC – this defense is stout against the run but suspect against the pass. Average offense can be dangerous if key players stay healthy.
24. CIN – if Palmer ever recovers mentally from all the injuries this team will be able to score some serious points, but their defense seems to like to give games away.
25. DEN – rookie coach who seems not to have the respect of the team. WR’s are the only great thing on this team if Marshall gets his act together. Defense is bad.
26. SF – good coach, but too many question marks in key places. Crabtree will not help this team any time soon, even if he signs today.
27. BUF – good WR’s, RB’s, and an average defense. Horrid offensive line play will not allow this team to move the ball consistently though.
28. DET – their offensive line will also have to get better if they want to win a game this year. They have improved greatly from last year. Their defense has to step up its game.
29. KC – can Cassel win them some games this year? Switching to the 3-4 will slow their defense down because they don’t have the right personnel.
30. CLE – Quinn needs to have a break out year if this club plans to win games this year. Only one legitimate WR who likes to drop the ball paired with a aging RB will need help this year from their defense.
31. OAK – inconsistent describes their whole team. Not sold on Russell being a QB in this league at all. Plan on starting rookie WR’s, good luck with that.
32. STL – name one person on their team that has done something besides Jackson…. That’s what I thought. QB way past his prime. This team needs to acquire some talent to become a competitor again.

BTW this is not how I see the season projections, just how strong a team is based on offense and defense. If I had to pick the super bowl, I would say GB vs. IND with GB winning it.

I think you are underestimating Chicago at #17. Cutler's the real deal and the best QB da Bears have had in the superbowl era.

Overall not bad, I like Pandirilla don't agree with Chicago... Really I think anyone of the 4-12 teams could switch spots easily...

I agree with you that Cutler is the real deal, but the defense is not that good anymore and they don't have any good receivers. They will win games, but they are an average team with an above average QB.

pitt & indy too high. bears too low. i think we're better than the patriots. the packers will do nicely with our franchise qb. rot in hell, saban.

As much as I hate to admit it, you ranked NYJ too low. They have a very good defensive front seven and their offensive line is very good. I think that SF is better than you ranked them, but only by a couple of slots.

I might of ranked the Jets too low, but not by much. There is alot of solid teams this year, and I don't think the Jets will do as good as last year.

I think Indy is gonna take a step back, reload a bit and give Manning a last push for another ring or two in a couple of years.

I like our safeties Wilson Bell and Clemons. I think we are going to surprise on D# this year even more than last year. The thing is that we need to control the football outside of the wildcat. Our WR's is my main concern as well as many others prolly. We just need that number 1 guy who can take a double coverage and just make plays and help the team as a whole.

That not a single post remarked that the Pats at 10 is ignorant, makes every post (particularly the guy who thinks they rank higher), invalid.

What exactly are you saying, I don't get what you mean. Are you saying the the pats are too low or high?

Oh really? Your bad defense and bad pass blocking is going to shoot you to the superbowl! Sorry for not listening to the idiots at ESPN, predicting big things for the overrated Patsies.

Sorry but personally I think it's a terrible ranking, Phillies line is garbage right now with injuries and Peters playing like a bust. You under estimate JJ loss as the defensive co-ordinator, his greatest attribute was in game adjustments and timely blitz calls.

Indy still plays bad defense, and the offense isn't what it was but still pretty good. Their Oline play this year is the biggest question mark.

NO still plays garbage defense, and their better lineman are going to be suspended, their new defensive co-ordinator will help though. Fantasy football ranks them high but this is about wins and losses not fantasy points.

GB has a top offense but your basing their ranking on pre-season defensive play, really. Let them prove it on the field in real games to climb the rankings.

Everyone stacks the box against the NYG and they still win, their ranked way to low. Great defense, great run game behind a great O-line and Manning is better then average (real good not great). This is what we dream of being.

SD has solid defense, solid offense with an excellent leader in Rivers... could be up to 6 but no lower then 8.

I realize everyone likes to hate on NE here but the fact remains their a top team in this league, better then Indy, GB, Philly and NO

Tenn is not going to slide when their run game is top notch and their defense will still be better then most. A smart QB and better Reciever core means another excellent year.

Both Chicago and Carolina are ranked awefully low, both play solid defense. Both teams have excellent run games and the addition of Cutler makes Chicago better. Jake gets too much slack for one bad game in the playoffs so I guess Pennington should get the same treatment as Jake then shouldn't he?

Personally I'd go this way....

(-) = teams potential on decline

(+) = teams potential on the rise

1. Pitts
2. NYG
3. NE (-)
4. Ten
5. Minn
6. Balt
7. SD (+)
8. Philly
9. Indy
10. Chic (+)
11. GB (+)
12. NO
13. Car (-)
14. Ari (-)
15. Mia (+)
16. Hou (+)
17. Dal
18. Atl
19. Sea (+)
20. Cinci (+)
21. NYJ
22. Jack
23. Was
24. Clev (+)
25. SF (+)
26. Oak
27. Den
28. KC
29. Buf
30. TB
31. St.Lou
32. Det

Feel free to fire back, I just think teams need to prove improvement first before ranking them so high.

The bears D has past its time to do something.
Cutler would of helped them be great about 3 years ago.
That O is scary with Forte but no WR's.
