My analysis of derek hagan after watching a ton of film

i Believe our three receiver set with Ginn,Chambers and hagan in the slot is going to be lethal,

I loved wes and believe he's going to be very effective for new england,lets just say i'am feeling better about it after watching extensive film on derek,,

The kid will never be a #1 but thats ok,he could be a GREAT SLOT RECEIVER AND HERE'S WHY,,

This kid's hands are suspect after 15 yards,,in the film he loses his hand eye cordination the farther away he gets from the line of scrimmage,,will never be a deep threat.
Whats interesting is his hands are phenominal under 15 yards,its like a different player.

He was born to be a slot receiver,think wes only bigger,faster and stronger.

He has an uncanny knack to find the spots in the zone underneath and he is very savvy when it comes to man to man within the 15 yards from the los.knows how to push off and use his body

He is long and has incredible extension,,will be our endzone guy,,8 to 12 td's this year.

We will need some big plays from whoever will be our QB and our o-line will have to be at it's best... A good offense always has a very good o-line and a playmaker at the QB position... Those are the 2 vital ingredients for a good offense...

8-12 TD's is crazy for a slot receiver and possible 4-5th option... 12 TD's would lead all receivers in the league.

In reality hagan will play on the outside. When ginn comes in he'll play flanker and chambers will play in the slot. Chabers best games/years/plays all happened when the coaches moved him into the slot position so that he gets the better CB matchup. Ginn on the outside will keep their fastest cover guy occupied and hagan will be able to benefeit becaue NO one will expect it to go to him...thats only if the team doesn't keep booker(hagan's game is very much like his so they may do this)

The biggest thing is that ginn is a little raw. And if we only bring him in 3 receiver sets it may help his development because it wil allow him to focus on just a few routes to get them perfect(ala chambers rookie year)

I think I just like the optimistic nature of the post and the well thought out response. For once it is nice to see somone being optimistic about this season and providing proof as to why... This season should be a blast!

You aren't accounting for the fact that Chris Chambers sucks. Our offensive line is in shambles. We have no tight end threat to speak of. And Ted Ginn is most likely gonna bust.

No way does he get even 8TD's.

He won't see the slot much either. Ginn and Chambers will be used in the slot mostly with Hagan playing the outside when Booker is out (hence why they want to trade Booker. They want to play Hagan in Bookers spot as you can't really lose that much productivity from Booker to Hagan and save $3 million).

Good post DJ, love the optimism. I also think our receivers will be very good this year. Let's just get the quarterback and right guard spots figured out and we are going to flourish.

Hell just make him the Quarterback! Then he can throw the ball to Ginn on those 50 yard streak routes nobody can keep up with him on! Hell he's so fast and big and strong maybe he can throw it and just run under it himself for those 12 TDs!

I mean seriously, Derek Hagan? Give me a break. The big knock on him was his hands. It doesn't matter how "big, fast, or strong" you are if you can't catch the football. David Boston anybody?

i liked hagan a lot in that draft, i think i had him 3rd among wr's that year. he's going to be fine, just has to focus. the hands, i think aren't his problem, given how much he caught in college.
