Did anyone else hear the tidbit on Mike & Mike this week that Peyton may sit down with the Irsays next week to discuss his future, and may be released at that point?

True? Untrue? Speculation? Who knows.

The point is this: My biggest concern is that Peyton and Flynn become free agents at the same time, the Fins go full-tilt boogie for justice after Peyton, miss out on both, and cannot get RGIII.

Would this be the end of the world? Of course not. I'd love to see what the new staff could do with the existing roster. However, the resulting negativity of this board would make me, well...sullen.

This move would allow the Fins to take their best shot at Peyton, if they decide that's the proper move, and then still have a shot at Flynn if that doesn't work out.

Best case scenario, IMO.
 
With Sherman on staff, IMO, there's likely a Tannehill in our immediate future if we don't sign Flynn, regardless of the Manning machinations.
 
The best thing about all this is we have 2 very experienced coaches that know Flynn and Tannehill inside out and if they are capable of being solid starters in the NFL. If we don't get them and Peyton lands elsewhere, it's for a reason. For once, I'm pre
tty comfortable with any decisions we are going to make in the off season. I would like to see Ireland grow some balls and get RGIII though.
 
I'm not sold on Flynn and I'm not sure Peyton will be healthy come season start time. If he is healthy I don't see him leaving the Colts anyhow.

Best bet, if it's a QB this FO wants, is to move up and let Moore battle the rookie next season.
 
I believe in Manning. Sign him to a benchmark deal and try to win NOW. This team needs his leadership...

Answer: To make NFL teams better

Question: Will drafting Luck make the Colts better if...again...IF Peyton is healthy?

Answer: NO!

Question: Do you know what the success rate of 1st round QB's are?

Answer: Less than 50% live up to their expectations

Question: Is Manning most likley the best QB to ever play the game?

Answer: YES!

Question: If Peyton is healthy, how much longer will he play?

Answer: No one except Manning knows for certain, but most experts think another 4-5 seasons

Question: If Manning is healthy, what is the Colts biggest weakness?

Answer: Defense

Question: If Manning is healthy, what could the Colts get for their #1 pick?

Answer: A hell of a lot of ways to fix their defensive holes



Conclussion: IMO, if Manning is healthy I don't see the Colts cutting him.
 
If Philbon doesn't go balls to wall after Flynn there is a reason he has been with him his entire career. Either way I take P. Manning at 80% coming into camp over Flynn. Everyone talks about intangibles and P. Manning has it, the best football smarts in the game and that makes everyone on the offense better! As long as we don't ignore his successor like them Colts did.

you can call me foolish all you want.
i based what i said on what i've heard. what i've read, and i doubt that i'm the only person on here that thinks manning is done in indy.
as unpopular as it might be to think the colts will let manning walk, crazier things have happened. imo
 
If Manning is healthy, most experts think he'll play for 4 to 5 more years. It's too soon to take Luck to "learn" from Manning. This option makes the least sense. It's probably the most popular among stupid fans and pundits who care for nothing more than ratings, but it's pure unadulterated stupidity. It will ruin the franchise. IF Peyton is healthy you trade that #1 pick and fix the defense. A healthy Peyton is the surest thing to getting back to the Super Bowl. Luck, with a crapping defense, gets you nowhere.


 
With a healthy manning and a news rt this current roster can win in them post season! Fix them mess at safety and we are ready to compete with News England.

i agree with you 100%, but for some reason the owner of the colts feels like he was screwed by peyton manning and his agent, along with bill polian, last year when they were negotiating mannings contract extension not once did the severity of mannings neck injury surface until after the contract was done. ( i heard this on the radio last week so sorry no link) so in closing i agree with you if i was the owner of the colts there is no way i would let manning walk. having said that all signs point to an ugly divorce.

If you're trying to convince yourself they won't take Andrew Luck you should stop. They're taking him. Also Peyton is tying up $28 million in salary cap, they have an opt out option on his contract which won't count any dead money towards their cap. The fastest way to rebuild that defense is to use that money in free agency. Pagano wants to run a 3-4, he can go out and get Soliai, Mario Williams and about 6 or 7 other free agents with that money and rebuild the defense in one season.

YOU don't see it.. But most people do. It's a very common hypothesis/conclusion that Peyton will not be playing in Indy next year. Is it "certain" ? No, but a highly plausible outcome.
