My Biggest Question from Yesterday

Time out's again. I went to the bathroom after kickoff and we were already down a TO? We get to the last part of the first half and we only have one left when we need them all. This game mismanagement is unconscionable for an NFL head coach. The man has no business being one.

Worst one min offense I’ve ever seen. Just terrible coaching
IIRC, there was a game earlier in the season...I believe it was against Indy...where when we were down several scores McD never kicked in the hurry-up/no-huddle when Tua was in there. Enter Wilson, IMMEDIATELY goes to no-huddle.

It used to piss me off that McD didn't have a no-huddle package for this offense, but that day proved he did...they just couldn't trust Tua to run it...es muy lento de cabeza.

I need to re-watch the footage, because it looked to me as if McDaniel was pissed off that they're draining down the clock. I'm not so sure that was his call, seemed to me like Tua was fine taking the foot off the pedal for 3.

I was at the game
Tua looked over at him after the second run play and McDaniel signaled to him to slow it down.
McDaniel played for the FG after the second run play didn't get a first down

While in the moment of the game, I cant help but root for a win. However, the problem is exactly what many people on this board has been saying while rooting for us to lose. McDaniel isn't benching a 50 mil dollar QB in the mist of winning 4 of 5. Had we lost to NO and Washington then MAYBE I could see them making a change but the team won despite Tua and they aren't going to make a change at this time unfortunately. Frankly its bullshit. We aren't going to the playoffs so who ****in cares how many we've won recently. Sure as **** isn't because of the QB.

McDaniel gunning for Wild Card game, so probably the only way another QB sees the field any time soon is if Pork Chop gets hurt. I am surprised he has lasted this long, but we are doing everything we can to keep him upright. That's one reason I want a change. It's hard enough as it is to win. We need a QB where everything ( QB running, extending plays, able to make all the throws, etc. ) is on the table.

Who?

McDaniel 's offense is too complex to bring in a guy off the street, and he refuses to change it.

We are stuck with Tua until Ewers can step up.

Even if we draft a first round rookie it will take him a year before he can run McDaniel's offense.

I'm not sure goes true that is...Tua is NOT a smart QB. If Tua can run it, then almost anyone can. I think the advantage Tua has is only that he knows the plays now. Like I agree, I don't think you can bring a guy in now and have him learn the playbook to be effective this season, though.

It's just not anything to do with being able to understand a complex offense.

Didn't scan every comment, so apologies if this is an echo, but it all started by calling the 3rd timeout way too early. There was plenty of time to get to the line and run another play to see if we could get a chunk of some kind, then use the time out or even a spike and STILL have plenty of time left. Calling that time out from around the 38 yard line or whatever with plenty of time on the clock (our last time out) was one of the clearest examples to me that McD is in over his head. No other team calls the time out then and there. I feel that hamstrung the team into what happened the rest of the drive (not having that timeout). You save that puppy...
This was my main point of this thread.

I would like to know how many times we’ve had 3 timeouts left at the end of a half during the McDaniel tenure and how that compares to the rest of the league. I’m guessing not very well.

It’s not only that they do not execute the hurry up either. They do not seem to be coached up to perform other special task like onside kicks, Hail Marys or even simple QB sneaks which all can be valuable tools to win tight games.
