How many people even recognize this name? If you are a true NFL fan, you should. If you don't...he did coach for Oakland this season, so you get a free pass, because most people quit caring about the Raiders around the 4 minute mark of the first preseason game.
With that said, I want therer defensive coordinator as our head coach. His name is Rob Ryan. He is 6'3. 260 pounds. A hard-nosed, defensive guy. EVERYONE is screaming for an "offensive mind." We dont exactly need an offensive minded coach.....we need some offensive PLAYERS. We need a healthy Daunte, or another QB. We need a Left Tackle horribly. A center wouldnt hurt, either. We need a real #2 reciever. I don't care who are coach is, if you dont have the players.....the best offensive mind out there can look horrible. We can hire an offensive minded....OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR. Doesnt that make sense? Maybe Mike Martz.
As for the head coaching job, why not play to are strength...which is defense. We have the best defensive player in the game in J.T. Zack still has 2 or 3 great years left. Miami was #4 in overall defense.
Which team was #3 in overall defense you ask? You guessed it, the Raiders. Not only were they #3 in total defense, but the Raiders were also #1 against the pass, and #1 in takeaways forced.
These numbers are great....and this defense consists of a bunch of players that the regular NFL fan couldnt name outside of Warren Sapp, who, by the way, Ryan seemed to zap life into after 3 horrid seasons, and the rookie Safety Huff from Texas.
And dont forget the fact that this defense was this good all year playing with, seriously, maybe the worst offense in the history of NFL football. Ryan's defense was constantly being put in horrible, horrible spots by continous 3-and-outs and turnovers by aaron brooks (when he was healthy) and andrew walters when he wasnt. Walters. Who? Exactly.
Get an offensive O.C. to run the offense guys.
We need to play to are strengths. Ryan would think he was in heaven in Miami with zack and j.t. after dealing with that team in oakland. Wayne needs to quit trying to hit home-runs and hire a damn good coach.
Hire Rob Ryan.
