FA pick up:

1) Terrel Owens (WR)
2) Drew Brees (if healthy,(QB))
3) Le Charles Bentley (C/G)
4) DeShawn (SP) Townsend (CB)

2006 Draft:

1st Pick: Manny Lawson (DE/OLB) OR Michael Huff (CB/S) OR Chad Greenway (OLB)
2nd Pick: Greg Blue (S) OR Rashard Marshall OR Nate Salley (CB/S) OR Cedric Griffin (S/(maybe CB))
3rd Pick: Fred Matua (G) OR Jesse Mahelona (DT) OR BPA
4th Pick: BPA

OR Manny Lawson 16th, Bing/C. Jackson/Giles/ with the late 1st pick up via RW trade

OFFENSE:

QB - Brees, Frerrote, Lemon
RB - R. Brown, S. Morris, T. Minor
FB - Barnes, "?"
WR - Terrel Owens, C. Chambers, W. Welker, BPA (if drafted), or cheaper WR via FA.
LT - Alabi, "?" (McInt released)
LG - James if kept or Giles
C - Bentley
RG - Hadnot
RT - Carey

DEFENSE:

CB - Daniels, Townsend, Poole, Mitchell, (draftee)
S - Lance Schulters, Bell,...SS, Depending on who is drafted Huff, Blue, Salley, Griffin, Tillman
OLB - Crowder, Pope, Lawson
ILB - Z. Thomas
DE - D. Bowens, J. Taylor
DT - Holliday, K. Traylor, (draftee/FA), Wright
DE - Carter, M. Roth

I still see a need in depth at LB position and maybe adding one more good one.

Brees isn't going to come here, he wants to stay a Charger and he's probably going to sign a long term deal before he hits the FA market. Why would they hand the starting job to an unproven Phillip Rivers when Brees has played phenominal for them?

have you heard of a tiny thing called cap room

is that regarding the team or the chargers situation?

He means the team. There's no way we're going to afford all 4 of those free agents. Count us lucky if we can snag 1 or 2.

Sweet I love these, here is mine:

FA pick up:

1) Ty Law CB (Wants to come to Miami, so lets grant him his wish)
2) Stephen Neal G (Plays Right Guard, allows us to move Hadnot to Center)
3) Corey Bradford WR (Great #3 WR for this team, don't pay for T.O.)
4) Aaron Brooks QB (Mullers boy, this could be McNair if available)

Resign:
L. Shulters S
Y. Bell S
S. Morris FB/RB
B. Gilmore WR

2006 Draft:

1st round pick: Jay Culter QB (Future of the franchise, period)
2nd round pick: Richard Marshall CB (Madison and Howard are gone)
3rd round pick: Andrew Whitworth OT (Nasty player, perfect for RT depth)
4th round pick: Cameron Vaughn OLB (Huge player that fits Sabans Defense)

OFFENSE:

QB - A. Brooks, J. Culter, C. Lemon
RB - R. Brown, R. Williams, K.J. Harris
FB - Barnes, S. Morris
TE- R. McMicheal, L. Diamond
WR - C. Chambers, M. Booker, C. Bradford, W. Welker, B. Gilmore
LT - McIntosh, Alabi (if McIntosh cut move Carey to LT, Whitworth to RT)
LG - James
C - Hadnot
RG - Neal
RT - Carey, Whitworth

DEFENSE:

CB - Law, Marshall, Daniels, Poole, Mitchell
S - Lance Schulters, Bell
OLB - Crowder, Spragan, Vaughn
ILB - Z. Thomas, Crowder, Pope
DE - D. Bowens, J. Taylor
DT - Holliday, Wright, Vickerson
DE - Carter, M. Roth

sorry bud you are wrong and dont know whats going on do you. TO can be obtained fairly cheap as we can make a contract taht if he behaves he gets more money bonuses yada yada yada. Bentley will cost but VERY MUCH worth it, Brees might be somewaht expensive depends how they work the contract again due to injury reasons and townsend shouldn't cost much. those are very obtainable. now did you think last year before the FA season started that signing, Lance, Carter, Holliday, Traylor, Frerrote would have been possible? i bet evryone would say no and back then we didnt have the money to spend like we do this year.

There are rumors floating around that Brees may be allowed to be a free agent. The Chargers just restructured AJ Feeley's contract today and because of Brees' injury status, the Chargers are a little weary of the big money they will have to pay Brees if he doesn't sign their contract offer. If he doesn't, the Chargers will be in a tough situation if they have to franchise Brees. See below for part of an ESPN Insider article:

"After the season, the Chargers informed Brees they wanted to sign him to a long-term contract. They recently made an offer and are waiting to receive a counter offer. Brees, the Chargers' franchise player last season, is a free agent beginning March 3.

The Chargers have until next Thursday to franchise or transition Brees. Because of Brees' shoulder surgery, the Chargers probably won't franchise him because the contract would be guaranteed and he would sign it immediately. The transition tag is less expensive. To franchise Brees, it would cost the Chargers $9.6 million. To transition him, it would cost $8.3 million."

True, I heard yesterday on NFL sirius radio that the Chargers has given permission to Brees and his agent talk to other teams..

Sounds good but Breese wont be let go and he isnt even going to be 100% for the season opener so whats the point I say we draft a young qb and maiby pick up a vet or keep Gus for one more year at the helm.....

As a Saints fan I've been reading your FA posts with some curiousity. Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't the Dolphins currently $8 million OVER the cap? Your realistic FA lists read like a who's who of the best available FAs. LeCharles Bentley alone is looking for a $5 to $6 million dollar a year deal. How many guys can the Phins cut to get far enough under the cap to afford the rookie pool much less top guys like Bentley and TO?

The Saints are currently $10 million UNDER the cap (without cutting guys like Aaron Brooks) and there's a debate whether or not the team can afford LeCharles Bentley.

How exactly?

cutting mcdougle and jones alone will free up 11.5 million. McInt will prob be released as he costs a lot and is ok and got arrested and saban wont condon taht most likely. Z. Thomas is willing to restructure and take a cut for teh team. Howard will go as he is making bank for being donkey doo and madison is msot likely gone as he eats up money for a TOP 10 CB as he is not nemore sadly

Thanks I accidently deleted the question (noobie). So the Phins are going to have some shopping money. I wondered why there were so many optimistic threads about the Phins signing FAs. The Saints will have that much (or more) but thanks to Katrina our situation is different. I'm a Saints fan and if I were a FA that had to chose between Miami and New Orleans even I'd chose Miami.......

loll yea thats the unfortunate part. players wont want to go there but maybe the pick of Leinart might chagne thigns a lil bit.
