Well here is my shot at a mock right now. I don’t have us addressing some of the issues I think we need to (i.e. OL), but I hope we get some players in those spots through FA. I do however have us getting (what is in my opinion) great value with each pick. I know a couple of these picks are long shots, but it is my mock, and as of right now, seeing this as our draft results, I would be ecstatic.

Round 1: Laron Landry, S, LSU
-Purely BPA pick. Assuming Allen claims the other safety spot, we could be set for years in the back of the secondary.

Round 2: Rufus Alexander, OLB, Oklahoma
-Fast and strong OLB. A position we desperately need some help at.

Round 3: Limas Sweed, WR, Texas
-Declares early thinking he’ll be at worst a 2nd rounder, but slips slightly into the 3rd because of the declaration of other Juniors: Rice, Monk, Jarrett, Johnson, and Ginn(all of whom leave the board by the end of round 2) and a slower than anticipated 40 time.

Round 4: Dan Bazuin, DE, Western Michigan
- This might be a bit of a pipe dream that he lasts this long, but it’s my mock, so that’s who we get. Dan was the nation’s leading sacker this past season, with 17. And hey, the last time we drafted a DE from the MAC it worked out pretty well.

Round 5: To Detroit

Round 6: Justin Vincent, RB, LSU
-Could go as early as round 4, but injury concerns let him slip all the way to round 6. Not the biggest or fastest back, but enough vision and skills to be a capable spot back/back up.

Round 7: KiKi Gonzales, DT, Akron
- 6-2, 300lbs. An immovable object in the middle that will claim a double team majority of the time. Not exclusively a pass rusher or run stuffer, but does both very well.

So there it is, let me have your opinions and so forth. Feel free to rip into some of my picks, or tell me the unlikelihood of some of them happening, so that I get brought back down to earth.

your right. Landry would be the BPA if hes still on the board. and if the top QB's are gone by our pick, i completely agree with the pick.

I would also love to get Justin Vincent in the later rounds. does he scream 'frank gore' or what.

S/CB is a possibility in the 1st round...IF MIA trades for Randy Moss. I dont think that your 2nd round pick is too realistic since I believe MIA will sign Adalius Thomas to play OLB.

So I do agree with a DB in the 1st round but a NT in the 2nd is more reasonable. I see MIA trading a 3rd, Booker, and maybe JH to Oak for Randy Moss and pursuing Adalius Thomas and Eric Steinbach via FA.

But in order for MIA to go S in the 1st...Jason Allen would have to be moved to CB. I also like Reggie Nelson more than Landry...

Well I have us focusing on OL in FA, as Thomas and Briggs command too much money at OLB. Also, I don't have us trading for any players or picks. I do want to know why Allen has to be moved to CB for us to pick Landry? There are 2 safety spots after all. I know Hill did well, but with a whole offseason, Allen should claim the starting role there.

I know Landry is good, but I just don't want to go with a D-Back again in the first round. We need a beast on our D-line, or a LB like Willis to be the heir apparent to when Zach retires. I think we could probably use help everywhere so take BPA.

I agree I'm really high on Willis.

Crowder is actually Zach's heir, and I agree BPA, and in my head of who will be left, Landry is BPA.

your mock is good. But i think we take an offensive lineman SOMEWHERE in the draft.

I origonally had us getting Tim Duckworth (OG, Auburn) in the 4th round, but then I remebered the G's available in F/A: like Steinbach and Leonard Davis, both of whom we might go after. Then I looked at C, and couldn't think of any that would be available and worth taking there in the 4th. As for LT, at each round there were much better players available at our draft spot in my head, than the LTs that would be available. I have Thomas gone by 9, and Baker nor Long declare. Brown(though I would love to get him) I think is a reach at 9 until he works out and plays in the senior bowl. In the 2nd round, only LT worth taking at 9 is Joe Staley IMO, but he's not played the competiton level one would want, and considering someone like Alexander, Timmons, or Everett might be available at OLB when we pick, they are much better BPA. This team has a lot of holes, and not all will be filled by the end of next draft, but I think my draft would do a helluva a lot to help the current talent level as well as prospects for future success.

You forgot one of our biggest needs. Our O-Line needs to be addressed.

I didn't forget it, see post #12, and I explain why I didn't pick any OL. I see us looking at OG, in FA, and I know T's will be think at FA, but they just didn't work out drafting one in the mock in my head.

Plus, I am big on the mindset that you try and draft BPA, and don't sacrifice talent over need. If players are rated closely, I say go with the need, but the players I have us picking, are rated much higher and ultimately more valuable than the OL I think will be available at the respective draft spots.

i like it, although taking two LSU players post-saban seems weird. i really like rufus alexander, so that'd be a great pick. and i love bazuin.
