I was a little late this evening due to traffic, but was still able to witness quite a bit of action regardless. There was a large crowd, and there was a comfortable overcast sky above, it was still hot, but compared to the morning session, it was a nice change. On with the report....

~ 11-11 Passing Drills ~
-------------------------

Henne - Throws outside right, but too high. It was a poor throw in my opinion....

Henne - Delay handoff up the middle, only a minimal gain. They throw in a run every now and then just to keep the defense guessing. It really hasn't been working thus far....

Henne - Throws over the mid/left side to TE Fasano. It was a decent throw in heavy traffic but unfortunately dropped.....

Henne - Downfield connection to WR Wilford for a TD. The throw wasn't perfect, but none the less a TD. The pass went about an estimated 25 yards, and then Wilford was gone once he got a hold of it. Nice job....

=========================

McCown - Tosses outside right to Brown for only a minimal gain....

McCown - Throws over the middle to WR Camarillo for about a 5 yard gain. Not much to talk about really....

McCown - PLAY OF THE DAY - WR Lymon makes an excellent one handed snag in between traffic, and then takes it the distance for a TD. It was one of those plays where 9 out of 10 times the ball usually falls incomplete. Lucky, but still a great catch!!...

McCown - Throws over the middle to WR Ginn for about 5, and then Ginn usues his quickness to get a few more...

=========================

Beck - Short dump off to FB in the flats, safe play that gains only a few....

Beck - Nice throw over the middle 5-6yrds to TE, alittle high, but good enough for a decent gain....

Beck - Throws to the mid / left side, poor throw that hits the ground at WR feet. He didn't look comfortable on that one when he was planting his feet in my opinion, and he was off balance...

Beck - Holds the ball a little too long, tries to dump one underneath, but the pass was behind the WR coming across. Not very good. Beck looked somewhat confused, and then when he went to hit his outlet, he just made a poor throw. No other way to put it....

Quick QB Observation : Based on that drill only, McCown looked the most comfortable in my opinion. Henne wasn't all that bad either, but you can tell that he's still getting use to the speed out there as a rookie. Beck seems to like playing things safe most of time, and he's good when he's doing that. However, everyone out there knows that he needs to do more. He needs to start taking more chances with his deeper routes, and he needs to prove that can make that throw....

=====================================

~ More Passing Drills. Coverage Only / No Pass Rush ~
--------------------------------------------------------

Henne - Holds the ball too long, and end up throwing it away. Nobody open, but still not what you like to see when there's no pass rush coming in. He should have done better....

Henne - Hits WR Camarillo over on the left / mid side. Not much of a gain really, but the timing was good on the throw....

Henne - Throws left side to the TE, but the ball is behind him. Bad throw....

Henne - Safe over the middle throw for 5 yrds to TE Fasano. Nothing special really...

Henne - Throws over the middle, but the pass is behind the WR. Another poor pass from the rookie....

=========================

McCown - Safe dump off over the middle for about 5 yards. Nothing special....

McCown - Very nice over the middle connection to TE. Great timing, goes for about 10-12 yards...

McCown - Throws over to the right sideline to Hagan, for what looked like a nice gainer, maybe 15-20 yards. That was a great throw, the kind you expect a starting QB to make....

McCown - Dump off to the outside left. No big thing...

McCown - Throws over the middle to a streaking Ginn, and it's a nice play that goes for about 10 yards....

==========================

Beck - Shotgun - Makes a nice throw to WR Wynn on the outside left for about a 6-7 yard gain. Good play....

Beck - Outside to Ricky on the flats, overthrown somewhat, but still hauled in for a short 3 yards gain....

Beck - Nice throw on an up and out route. Hits Fasano for about 10. This was Beck's best throw of the day in my opinion, the timing / accuracy was perfect....

Beck - Throws a safe dump off underneath for only about 2 yards. Nothing special...

Beck - Throws outside right about 15 yards downfield intended for Wilford, but it's way too high and incomplete. Ugly looking throw on that one...

=====================================

~ 11-11 Redzone Drills ~
---------------------------

Henne - Play action, nobody open downfield, takes it himself in an opening on the DL. Probably would have gone for a nice 5 yard gain, but a risky play as well....

Henne - Handoff left / mid side to Brown, but very little there for him. Only about 1 yard or so...

Henne - Ricky goes right side, and finds some room for about 5 yards. Ricky made a nice shift in order to hit the hole on that one. Ricky has looked very poised all TC long, and as long as he stays healthy, he'll be a great addition to the offense this year in my opinion...

Henne - Missed that play somewhat, but it looked like Henne was going for the TE in the endzone, and he underthrew it....

=======================

McCown - Sack - The OL is starting to look winded.....

McCown - Refs throw flag on that play. Have no idea what it was....

McCown - Handoff outside left, but not much there. I'd say about a 2 yard gain tops. The DL has dominated the trenches for most of the day, not to mention most of camp all together....

McCown - Dump off right side to FB, under heavy pressure, minimal gain....

=======================

Beck - Quick throw outside right for about 5 yards. Not bad, but safe....

Beck - What should have been called a sack, was a dump off underneath to Ginn for about 5 yards. Beck was getting rid of it as he was getting touched, so you make the call...

Beck - Throw short right, for only about 3-4 yards. Beck likes to keep things close that's for sure....

Beck - From 5 yard line, Beck overthrows TE in the back of the endzone. Incomplete...

========================================

~ The Closing 2 Minute Drill ~
-----------------------------

Henne - Quick throw outside left, and nice up field gain after the catch. It looked like Wilford, but I could be mistaken...

Henne - Makes a very nice throw to Ginn on the outside left. Goes for a about 15. Solid throw...

Henne - Sack. No time what so ever on that play. It was almost as if nobody was blocking in the middle. Bad protection...

Henne - High snap, makes good recovery, but then misses out on the left sideline. Timing was shot, and the pass fell short anyway....

Henne - Shotgun, nice throw to Ginn on the outside left. About 10 yards on that one. Henne is showing good signs for a rookie, and although he wasn't spectacular tonight, he looked confident. Time to grow as well...

=============================

McCown - Sack, The pressure on the outside was too much. The pocket crumbled, and he had nowhere to go....

McCown - Another sack. This time the middle of the OL was invisible. No protection at the moment....

McCown - Almost sacked for a 3rd time, throws 15 yards down the sideline incomplete....

McCown - Rolls out to the right side, and ends up taking it himself for only about 4-5....

FINAL THOUGHTS
===========

It was an exciting session tonight that much I can say. The QB's are still a mystery, but the competition between them is certainly there. They're suppose to scrimmage at 2:00pm tomorrow, so it'll be interesting to see which one of them emerges as the winner of that session...

The WR's are also an unknown because nobody really stands out. However, I must say that I like what I've seen for the most part thus far. I especially like what I've seen from TE A. Fasano, he's been a great new addition, and should be a huge part of the new offense under Henning...

As for the defense, it seems as if they've hardly been tested by the offense yet. It's been a one sided camp thus far, and I don't expect that to change much prior to the start of the season. They look well prepared to say the least. Later....

IN TUNA WE TRUST......

Thanks Blitz.Not from the area , means alot.

Your reports are the best Blitz. Thanks for all the efforts.

man, that sucks. we need Lecharles bentley and just hope that McCown can emerge and/or hold it down until Henne is ready to start. seems that we lack a starting LG.
