My Full Review of the Phins/Bucs Preseason Game

what have we learned today?

1:
Nothing more about Beck than we already know

2:
Henne was good,he had some off target throws, but was overall really solid.Whats irronic is,that when he had some ON-TARGET throws(ala Wilford) they drop it,and really didn't help him out,nor Beck or McCown

LOVED his confidence he showed today...thats what you wanna see most out of your QB

3:
McCown is McCown....

4:
The first unit offensive line was okay...Long had a penalty, but got himself together later on.I would think MIA might have to make some moves...shake it up a bit.Maybe Thomas wasn't ready for the RG spot, not to say he played bad, just not as we intisipated, but not bad

The second unit was...IMO...a little better, but definately a working progress....I think we might have to see if we can bring in some more OL,cause we arent exactly good at the depth, and the players that we have at depth isn't all that good,so we'll see

5:
Langford and Merling....played good, especially Langford...Need a some more work, but I like the way its going

6:
Travis Daniels...was not that good, wasn't that good at all...I would say he isn't going t get cut though, because we arent that good at CB,and after Wil Allen and Daniels...its nothing to speak of

7:
Dan Carpenter...I think Jay Feely better get back on that field asap...enough said....

8:
Special Teams....I have to say,I am VERY disappointed in them.I know,I know...we didn't give up a TD or anything, but we gave up too many yards...Sparano isn't going to like the film when he goes back and looks at it later.....People who were apart over the SP better shape up,and soon

9:
FB position...was anything special, but Mauia played Ok,but neither Boomer or Mauia were factors today...

10:
OVERALL...what we should have expected, but I was really hoping we'd go deep a bit more, but after watching the game,I'm glad we didn't.Our WR's just arent that good, and I swear I can see a ball go right through his hands and into the defenders on a sure TD...The defense was good in the first quater, and went downhill from there.I mean,it was as bad as you may think,we say some good things, but definately some things we need to work on...I like what I saw from Henne,Langford,Williams and especially David Kirkus...

Im out for a while,I gotta go clean up the mess I made when Wilford dropped that beautiful pass by Henne that hit him between the 1 and the 9

nice review. lets just remember this is the first game they played in over 7 months, so you should expect them to be a little rusty.

Who's in favor of Kirkus over Wilford. At least he doesn't drop any balls. And to me Wilford looked slow, anyone else?

I'd like to see a video of the whole game if someone can post it somewhere ... well the first half at least anyway. Not even sports bars in my area were showing the Dolphins/Bucs game.

One thing that you forgot to mention is Parmele looked very strong running the ball. He was IMPRESSIVE..

I gotta say, I like that signature picture you have. If I were a guitar student, I'd want to learn how to play a Les Paul Gibson like that so I could end up with a chick like in the picture. She looks a bit like that actress Angelina Jolie. Aspiring guitar gods need motivation like her to get them to practice every day.

I was very dissappointed in Wilford. I know and he knows he better than this. If he doesn't do something soon, he could be out of a job.

he was mediocre at best in JAX too though. this i just more of the same. we never should have signed him IMO, i'd rather have injury prone glenn as our possession receiver

Wilford looked slow, couldn't cause separation and his hands reminded me of Derius Thompson. Funny cause Hagan reminds me of Thompson too.

Actually, I thought rickey looked great. Ginn was decent, made one good catch. Beck looked terriable. Ronnie was ok. The first string played 3 drives, two of them were very short. So it is hard to say how bad or good they really are. I am looking forward to next game but our qb signing of Chad was the best thing we could do. Beck and Henne are not ready to play yet.

I think your review was...well, really not that good. Beck was solid going against TB's #1 D so I think for him not to screw up is good. Travis Daniels had an excellent coverage on the deep bomb which he had excellent position on. So to say he essentially was not that good at all tells me you missed one there.

I dont care what anyone says, Henne is ready to play. He is confident and throws a nice ball over the middle. Pennington better learn the playbook fast. Henne will be the guy come midseason.

Josh McCown was not just McCown. He stunk. He stunk in practice too last week so I would say so long Josh.

Our biggest weak spot is the WR's. Why no one mentioning Ginn as a bust already? Where is this guy? Are we hiding him till they count? Looks like to me. Either that, or this guy is not mentally there or something. Forget Wilford. I am worried about Ginn. We got lots of cash tied up in that guy. God I miss that we missed on Pat Willis. OUCH.

Overall vanilla displayed by Sparano. I think next week we start to show a bit more. I did notice 10 penalties on our side and well none on them. I am sorry, but I noticed 3 or 4 holdings on TB. It seemed every time we moved the ball, the flags came out. I just do not see how a Tampa team cannot have penalties in the first preseason game.

1st team defense was stout. Torber is the leader of this defense (minus Joey Porter) BTW, who was out w/ Holliday so we had two of our best defenders out. I am very pleased. Not thrilled with our backups though. Rod Wright, Starks, Ferguson, Solai, and the two rooks make a solid rotation. Bell and Allen should be good safeties for us but what lays behind them is scary.

overall, this game showed that Parcells turned this team around already by the draft and FA. Solid showing for who we are right now. Ronnie/Ricky should tear it up. We passed far more than run so I think this was all designed to get some real-time practice in for our lame WR's who really were not bad but still the dropsies. I would rather see Kircus out there than Wilford. Pennington is the kind of QB who will get the ball to the guy who is open. That spells good things for the no-names who show up. And so far, they are the only WR's to show up IMO. Ginn is incomplete but people should not let him off the hook. He is expensive. The coaching staff better have him shelved til season starts.

I really liked the front seven. Playing against the starting o-line, they had two 3 and outs. I think Beck did not make any major mistakes, which is alright. Certainly, the WR's did not help. I thought Thomas did an alright job at RG.
Long did a good job, minus the false start.
The TE's did a good job blocking, but were absent catching the ball.
Wilford stunk and so did Foster.
Carpenter is amazing. So is Fields.
We need Lehan out there.

I agree. I think the original post was lame and didn't tell us anything:unsure:
