I think I have to put up the white flag regarding Feeley. I wanted Feeley to win the starting job for a variety of reasons......

1. He was younger and hopefully could have been the guy for a lot of years
2. We gave up a 2nd rounder for him :shakeno:
3. Seemed to have all the tools

However, Gus seems to have won the battle. While we won't know for sure until Saban says so, I think that it is over. And I think that it all boils down to the fact that the other players don't trust Feeley. And they have alot of confidence in Frerotte. Just hearing what McMike had to say about the respect that Gus commands in the huddle shows me that the players view him as more of a leader. And he has talent to be able to make all the throws and seems to be a better decision maker. The D as well does not want to have to play with a short field and I don't they would have to as much with Frerotte.

So I am officially jumping on the Frerotte bandwagon. I hope that he can be Gannon like with his experience, and that he leads us to the big dance! I am not going to be disappointed in the decision, because I will put my trust in Saban!!
Any Feeley lovers want to join me in this united support of Frerotte? Let's put this behind us and follow Frerotte as our leader!!

I will never understand this. We should all be on the Miami Dolphins bandwagon. We should only hope the BEST players start all the time.

What's wrong with pulling for one player to win a position battle? As long as it doesn't keep you from rooting from whoever wins.....I will root for whoever is on the field for the Dolphins! I thought my post was about me admitting that I was wrong over who was the better player. I would never not root for Gus just because he wasn't who I wanted.

I can't stand TO, but if he lined up as a Dolphin I would love him!!
I am wholeheartedly a Fin fan......I am just stating that from what I have seen Gus is the better choice to start.

I too would have liked to see AJ suceed, and I hope he still does as he really never had a chance to build any rythm being pulled quickly in the Chicago game and playing with second team in the Jacksonville game.

But I will concede to the fact that Gus is likely to be our QB. What I can't understand is the glee in Miami fans that Gus will be our #1 QB and seeing through the proclaims of "FEELEY SUCKS!" as if some victory has been achieved. Gus is a career backup who had one great game in his career and is 34 years old. 34! The anointing of Gus confirms that we are not ready to push for the playoffs and we will have to wait another year for a rebuidling QB to enter the picture. I hope the many people bashing so called Feeley-lovers realize they are bashing people for hoping a younger QB with a strong arm was going to step up and be our answer to making the Linehan offense flow for the next 4-5 years.

Go Gus I guess.

Oh I am with you on Gus is old and its sad Feeley isnt starting, cause it could have been awesome. I also think we all hoped it wouldnt have worked out but those who are bashing Feeley are just starting ot see he cant do it man, he just cant. He doesnt have that special gift to be a good NFL quarterback and you have to know when to jump ship and look somewhere else. Feeley consistantly puts our team at a disadvantage every time he is out there.

Sorry that still doesn't fly with me...AJ may not be the answer, I still don't feel he was or will be given the chance to show it, but Ferrotte will NOT be the answer either. He'll lead us further into the dregs of football society, mark my words...While he seems to have his teammates bowled over from a leadership side of things, he still doesn't have the physical tools to lead the team...He can't throw deep accurately and he is off target on his intermediate passes. He is adept at the dump off passes, where AJ is lacking some finesse on them, but who wants to see a dink and dunk show ?? His best attribute right now is that he does understand what Linehan is trying to get done, where AJ doesn't seem to feel as comfortable.

Again...mark my words...we are in trouble with Ferrotte as the starter...that 4-12 repeat looks more and more likely....

To all the Feeley lovers out there. Newsflash!!!! We HAVE been in trouble at the QB spot since MARINO retired and still are. FEELEY has been given way too much time already for what skills he has shown in games. A few on here like KB and BlueFin were trying to tell everyone that we needed to draft a QB because we did not have one. But no one wanted to hear about that.

We arleady have a QB they said, one that hasn't been given a chance. Blah.blah blah.
Cry me a river ok!!!

Now the Feeley lovers like Infins will just say Feeley wasn't given enough time or the OL to suceed. BS

We WILL need to draft a QB in 2006 Draft to be our future. Lets watch college games more closely this year.

Can we stopp all this career back up talk he was a 3 year STARTER for the Deadskins and improved each year he was there......I guess he may also go down as the only career back up to make a pro bowl also?

Not quite . . .

In his three years starting with the Redskins (95, 86, and 97') his QB rating went from 70.2 to 79.3 to 73.8.

His TD to INT ratio went from 13/13 to 12/11 to 17/12.

And his yards went from 2700 to 3400 to 2600

His best year statistically was in 95', but he was also around 25yrs old then.

The next year he played three games and was shipped to Detoit the following year. Hence, career backup.

But forget the numbers, Gus is just not the answer either this year or beyond. I'm sure the majority will agree on that. It's just disaponting AJ isn't either, and I would hope all Dolfans would feel disappointment rather than glee that AJ has come up short.

Personally I want the best guy on the team to start. Whoever gives us the best chance to win, I don't care who it is!

It's not over yet. Not saying Feeley. I am not saying that I am hoping Feeley wins it no matter what (the best man should win it, even if bt some miricle that is Berlin  ), but I stil have not seen Gus place himself that much higher then Feeley, and if Feeley has a good game this coming week, he is on top again.

I was pulling for Feeley to succeed but I don't care if they put a purple baboon behind center, as long as they win. I don't care if a player is young, old, black, white, green, or a two-toed sloth - if they help the Dolphins win, I like them! As much as I loath Namath and Theisman, I would have cheered like hell for them if they wore Aqua and coral!

Nevertheless, we HAVE to draft a quarterback this coming year. I wanted Charlie Frye bad and thought that he would have been a steal in the 4th round (I believe) but I have faith in Saban and his decisions.

I've supported A.J. as well. Mostly because one of my authors (I work for a book publisher) had A.J. in several classes at Oregon. We talked about him several times last year, so I kinda became "attached" to him being the Dolphin's QB. But let's face facts. A.J. is talented, but he just can't seem to put it together. Which leads to mistakes, which leads to .... well, I know I don't want to live through another 4-12 season. :(

Frerrotte is nothing special, but he is solid enough to run this offense with some success - while also limiting back-breaking mistakes. I mean, I think the best case scenario this year would see us at 10-6 with some breaks. I think the only way to achieve this would be with Gus at the helm. He just seems much more comfortable, and won't make the same mistakes Feeley and Feebler did last season. Just look at most of his incompletions Saturday - except for a couple bad throws, most were in the "only the receiver had a chance to catch it" category.

Good luck Gus! We'll need it!
