Seasoned Veteran
Lorenzo Diamond- Is a technically sound blocker who takes good angles. Is tough and tenacious. Works to finish blocks and is a fist fighter. Has good size (6-3) 250, shows nice hands. Is a reliable short- area receiver. Is consistent in running routes. Gets upfield quicklyand is a strong open-field runner. Diamond is efficent hustles on every play and has good technique, but he does lack upside, he is a great young pickup for us.
Alonzo Ephraim- Is thick and plays with a good center of gravity. Stays lowand does a nice job of playing with balence. Takes good angles to his blocks and stays under control in the open field. Rarely is overpowered at point of attack and can anchor against the bull rush. Ephraim stugggles with injuries, but shows extreme toughness by playing through it. Wouldnt suprise me to see him STARTING in the near future.
Bryant Mcneil- Drafted in the 4th round in 2003, he has the size (6-4) 233 to make it in the NFL. Shows good initial burst and quickness. Excells at changing directions. can swim and spin inside. Has good pursuit speed and chases down running plays. Is an adequite tackler with some big play flair. Mcneal projects as a situational 4-3 end or possibly a 3-4 outside backer. he is a good upfield athlete with room for improvement on the prac squad.
Maurice Mann- Shows acceleration and burst when he gets a clean release off the line. Can run by defensive backs in man coverafe. Has good quickness and body control. Is a threat after the catch because of his second gear. He has the potential to develop into a vertical threat as a sub package receiver in the NFL. He has a troubled past and will need patience to develop.
Donnie Jones- Gets rid of the ball quickly on a two step release. Has a strong leg when he strickes the ball cleanly. Had a career-best 86 yard punt against Kentucky in 02 that went more than 70 yards in the air. Also can drop the ball inside an opponents 10 yard line by turning his punts over and making them take a sharp bounce toward the sideline. Has poor holding skills which might kep him from making the team . He is a little inconsistent. Lacks directinal skills but should learn how by Matt.
Jesse Chatman- will hit the hole hard, break tackles and fall foward after contact. Runs with balence and decent cutback ability. Covers up in traffic. Makes the effort in pass protection. Can return punts, is better than Minor in my opinion. Chatman is a solid backup who filled in nicely for Ladanian.
Fred Gibson- Has a nicecombination of size, leaping ability and agility to contribute in the red zone. was drafted in the 4th in this years draft. Is loaded with potential and will have time to develop behind Chamber Booker and Boston. If he improves his focus, Gibson has the potential to develop into a Great 2nd, 3rd receiver.
Will Heller- Displays solid hands and has natural ability as a receiver. Is 24 years old!!! Has intriguing upside because of his athleticism. Which is why i belive the Dolphins picked him up. Great blocker and sp teams player.
Joe Berger- 6-5 300 Michigan State. Small school background, but very smart and can play center. Has an appealing physical makeup but needs time to develop his technique.
Kyle Eckel- was good at NAVY, but this was a questionable move. I think we should have kept Martin. The guy was younger and cheaper and is worth a chance.
Kiwaukee Thomas- shows overall athleticism and has straight line speed. Is tough and competitive. Looks smooth in his pedal and shows a burst coming forward out of it. Is solid in pursuit. He is a GREAT pickup for us. An OUTSTANDING special teams player. Is Tony Bua except he can cover and contribut on D as well as special teams. Thomas is a solid backup corner who can provide depth and contribute on special teams.
Eddie Jackson- he has cover skills, ability and has youth should be interesting to see how he works into our longterm plans.
Thanks Guys give me some Feedback :)
