  • Round 1, Pick# 25 - CB - Alphonso Smith
We have no one behind W (just fell down again) Allen. Smith is not the ideal size BUT he is a playmaker.
  • Round 2, Pick# 12 - CB - Sean Smith
Smith adds size to the CB we have and he has the ability to backup at S.
  • Round 2, Pick# 24 – C – Antonie Caldwell
This pick not only adds the best center in the draft (my opinion) but it allow Satale to become a valuable back for both the guard and center positions.
  • Round 3, Pick# 23 – LB – Scott McKillop
Someone to challenge AA for some playing time at the inside LB position.
  • Round 4, Pick# 25 – OG – Tyronne Green
This years potential Thomas, I think this guy could start if Smiley is not ready to go (and or when Smiley gets hurt again)
  • Round 5, Pick# 25 – NT – Roy Miller
OK, I stole this pick from MrClean... lol but after looking into him some more I found him to be a productive player and would be a good value pick in the 5th round.
  • Round 7, Pick# 4 – WR – Brandon Tate
Tate would be a guy that we would take this year with the goal of getting him ready for the 2010 season. I just dont think he is going to be ready for this season.
  • Round 7, Pick# 23 – OT – Garrett Reynolds
Depth at the OT position, project guy...
  • Round 7, Pick# 28 – LB – Mortty Ivy
another productive college player...

Overall, I gotta say I'd really like this draft. Seems very reasonable and addresses depth and need in a lot of the areas we need.

But I do have one problem with this, and that is the lack of OLB or DE in this. Just another person who can get some pressure on the QB really. Maybe if you took out the Tyronne Green pick (if we drafted Caldwell and picked up Berger, that's already a lot of depth at C/G with Satele), and picked up a CB in that round instead of Smith. Then picked up a DE/OLB with the 2a.

If no other players are acquired between now and the draft, then I would say we need to draft a NT, CB and a WR with our frst 3 picks. The BPA at each position should determine when they are selected.

The balance of the draft can then be used to address depth at the thinest positions.

I don't get the woody that people have over addressing the NT position. Fact of the matter is that we have two serviceable player at that position and while fergie is getting up there in years he is not going anywhere for at least a couple more years.

On the flip side we have ZERO depth at CB, you guys do realize that we are down to Jones, Thomas and J Allen... dont you?

as much as i think we need to really do something about this cb void.. i dunno if the FO will do this.. sean smith might be a def possiblility at 44 tho

well can't address every need we have in one draft. We have four very good DE between Starks, Holiday, Merling and Langford. Don't forget Dotson is still out there as a project type of guy.

If we get a LB it is going to be to replace Roth (which I believe we need to do at some point.) If I was going to replace Roth I would do it with an early pick like Clay Matthews in the 1st. Then go with S Smith with 2a. Eric Wood with 2b (I believe he can play center and guard). THen I would have to address CB in the third.

i would not cry with the top end of that draft at all.

but a WR will picked in the top 3 choices.

i agree with caldwell. i think unger has more value but caldwell
could very well end up the best center in the draft.

our secondary is BEAT! it wasnt good before all the free agent hits
it got. as far as i am concerned, we can not bring in enough db's
in this years draft, corners AND safety's!!

our wr's are complimentary types. if we dont make a trade, at least two
should be drafted, one in the first 3 choices.

no more o-line [except center], no bundles of ilb's, we have 2 young DE's
to develope who have bright futures. i firmly believe we have the other
pass rusher we need in cameron wake.

so other than a REAL nose tackle, no ther position should be concentrated
on.

if the trifecta doesnt want to go that heavy on db's in the draft then they better
get off there arse and grab one or two of the pretty darn good db's left in f/a!!

mcfadden, bodden, shaun springs, bly, all have skills that can produce and help
us imediately, even if a couple would only be for a short time like springs.

D'S and WR'S should be the majority emphasis in this draft.

parcells will never take a CB in the first round. In all his years its only happened once and he was awful. I feel like they will get a CB later, LB or WR first
