I am very confident that this years team is the best post-Marino era team Miami has had. However, I see one major problem. Our secondary is not that good, and I am not using just last night as a barometer for this. The bottom line is Will Allen was bad in New York and likely is not a solid NFL starting CB. With Will Poole gone now, our depth looks bad there as well. Andre Goodman MUST step up and emerge as a top nickel-back. At safety Jason Allen needs to be ready to start right away. I dont think Renaldo Hill is of top quality either. At this point I see Travis Daniels as the #1 CB and I am hoping for J. Allen and Bell to emerge as the starting safeties. But we have a major major major hole with our second CB position.

Last night was Allens first game in this complex system and Daniels was not in the game. Goodman has been impressive.

Living in NY for so long I can tell you without a shodow of a doubt that truer words have never been spoken. While I don't mind the J. Allen pick, I would have been happier if Cromartie were chosen. I've seen Will Allen get beat so many times while playing with the Giants, it amazes me that he's considered a starter. I really had high hopes for Poole but I guess it wasn't meant to be.

I agree with you but when we have our d-line in full force it should help the secondary alot. The secondary is for sure our weakest spot.

Remember how it was last year?It will take some time to sort out but I do believe we are better off this year than last. Not to mention that our pass rush is something to see fan's.Caper's has our defense coming from all angle's. He turned Zach loose last night and if last night is any indication of what's to come than fan's get ready.

i think its all going to be about our secondary getting used to the system and playing well

As much as Will Allen got burned, there was no over the top help for him. It wsa definitely a break down in coverage by one the safties.

We as fans needs to remember you have a lot of new players playing in the secondary. They have to gel, and learn each others habits, and instincts. Once they get the starters, nickel, and dime packages figured out, and they play together on a regular basis, things will get a lot better. Keep the faith!

1st quarter passing stats, 4 poss: 2-8 26yds 1 int 1 sack. no jt no daniels, give me a break! we will be fine at db trust in saban please!

Yup you're right. Our d-line is pretty strong and overall the whole defense is going to get better as the season progresses. I'm really looking forward to see how they play against the Bucs, who has a tough defense as well.

I mean lets not kid ourselves . . we don't have "shut down" corners . . hell with all the new rules, its rare to have one of those. I think we have solid guys however . . who need a good DLine to be truly effective. WE are used to having Surtain and Madison in there prime back there . . they spoiled us. I think we have 2 guys in Daniels and Allen who will do just fine in our secondary this year, along with a bunch of talented safties.

My goal for the Tampa Bay game is just to see improvement. I wanna see guys better positioned, I wanna see better pursuit of the QB by our 2nd and 3rd stringers . . I wanna see better routes run by our receivers . . I mean I don't care if u make a mistake in the preseason . . just learn from them and improve with each week.

Absolutely. We've got such a classy coach on defense now too. Capers is top notch, and it's just a matter of time before our defense is more stable and less susceptable to the long ball.
