No matter what many people think this case will probably not end well for the dolphins or NFL. At the very least more dirty laundry will come out and we lose as least one starting lineman.
Lets make it simple. Come to an agreement to release Martin if he agrees but he gets to keep the rest if his contract. We would take that salary hit right away since we have cap room and he doesnt lose a dime in money because he may have been mistreated.
The NFL agrees to seting rules for hazing and lockerroom conduct and annouce what penalties could be levied. Martin would be free to sign with any team. Release InCognito and he keeps the rest of his contract. Same provision he can sign wherever.
Then in offseason Ross really considers major changes in leadership of team. Ross also right away puts Philben on notice for club house. I do think Ross should investigate if Ireland told Martin's agent what was was claimed and if so fire him on the spot.
The team can then carry on and actually play football and both players can peddle their wares elsewhere. We lose talent but we really dont want more layers being exposed on this wound. Fix it make rules and stick by them and get these two guys out of dodge.
Just issue a statement and an apology for not realizing things might have went to far and make changes to fix it. To me thats the best possilble solution at this point

I would rather see martin exposed as the fraud he is.

I agree with dlockz that the best solution here would be to try to bury it ASAP, but it looks like the team ownership agrees with you. They are gambling to win here.

Problem is there may be no way to prove that. we are dealing with alot of dynamics here. I mean look at the voicemail.
Yea people could say they thought Martin said it was funny but MArtin could always say no matter what these comments made him unconfortable.
We are talking many things that cannnot be disproved because it feelings.

No way Martin people go for this.....this is a great plan for the dolphins not so much for Martin, he is humiliated and chances are will never play football again....it's going to take big money to get him to stop....

Im not sure Ownership is gambling either way, I think they just want it cleared up. Hell Ross might be very interested in the findings himself.
Ross probably doesnt want to appear to be sweeping it under rug anyway.

Actually I think its Martin people don't want a deal unless its double digit millions on top of high priced lawyer fees and publicly bring the NFL to its knees....I think Ross and the NFL would take this deal in a heart beat....

How is Martin humilited wrong doing is admitted to some degree without going into specifics. As for the money angle do the research, he is not about to get more money than he would make on his contract.
I dont buy the money angle because nothing seems to make all that much money in this kind of case unless they were really doing some violent repugnent stuff beyond what we are discussing.
Im willing to bet that Martin will be playing football as soon as he is cut. He started 23 straight football games for a reason. Anybody can start for a short time but he was in no danger of being benched.
him being allowed to go to new team takes away alot of backlash

So if you were Martin and you had came to point where you were going to hire a lawyer , you would have hired a public defender.

Well, it really depends. I think that Ross probably has the most complete information of anyone in this whole situation. I would guess by the way the team is handling the situation that Ross ultimately believes he can restore some credibility to the franchise by taking actions that don't involve simply folding up like a cheap accordion. And that is definitely a gamble.

Why not just drop it. Especially here where we are supposed to be fans.

So if you were Martin and you had came to point where you were going to hire a lawyer , you would have hired a public defender.

You don't hire a big time lawyer to get fair deal for all involved, you rape the wrong doers especially if there sitting on billions and have a reputation to worry about.......Martin will claim he has to find another career because his football days are over and its not because he doesn't want to play anymore...its because he is a whistle blower, his lawyer will argue and reach a settlement that would pay Martin what he believes is what he would have made in the NFL over a career plus pay his lawyer and medical bills which will be an ongoing with his therapist. I will say about 50-70 million

Bottom line....Martin is about to get paid more than he ever would have as a football player......

At this point , I believe the end game decisions in this will go a little higher than the dolphins ownership. The NFL will have their foot in the door in all aspects and if they feel martin is throwing crap against the wall hoping it will stick, this will be a long process because it could be a game changer for the NFL and it's off the field cultures and policies. I expect this story will slowly disappear from the headlines in the next couple weeks. Football games always override everything else, with the final half of the season coming and the playoff races , this nonsense will start to deteriorate.

I don't think it is going to take a whole lot of factual evidence to refute some of his claims. People just need common sense to see the light. I have already seen some of the media start to do their backtrack dances. There have already been claims of players saying martin was replaying the voice mail to teammates and laughing about it. That voice mail is junk for his case. Sorry if he feels uncomfortable in situations but that's life not everything is peaches and cream.

No I would hire the best lawyer that money could buy, he would be ruthless and he would call the shots not me.......
