You want to know what irritates me about this draft? The fact that we have a top ten pick in a draft that has limited star power at the top, but has enough depth that some third and fourth rounders are going to be starting in September and we are sitting at #9 hoping and praying that we get a chance to fix one of last years mistakes.
How do you wiff on an entire draft? I don't know but somehow Saban managed to do it last year. So we are at #9 hoping to get Quinn, to make up for the Cullpepper mistake, Landry to make up for the Allen mistake or Brown to make up for taking Allen over Winston Justice who I guarantee you will have a better career than Brown, Ugoh or Staley.
Actually, the tackles played fairly well last year. However, once the guards statred getting hurt, even Jeb declared the o-line a disaster area. What we need to do is trade down about three times and pick Ben Grubb somewhere in the 20's, picking up extra third and fourth rounders along the way. However for the purposes of this thread, let's stay at #9.

#9. Everybody loves Brown except me. Personally, I don't see much difference between Brown and Harris from Notre Dame. Both guys played for teams that under acheived last year in large part because these guys could't do their jobs well against the better teams. In fact when these two teams played each other, the Notre Dame d-line which wasn't world class by any means, had Brown and his boys for an in-between meal snack. So, if you don't take Brown, who do you take. For my money the best pick regardless of position is Patrick Willis, but Cam won't take him. The team is looking to fill a need with this pick. They will probably pick Brown. If they don't take him they will take Leon Hall or possibly Ted Ginn if he runs well at his workout.

#40. If the fish take Brown, that still leaves QB, WR, OG, safety and corner to be addressed. Centre is also a need, but not this early. Besides, there will be a run on offensive linemen from 33-40. Grubb, Blaylock and Kalil will be gone by this time. The one guard who will be there is Sears. Do you draft o-line two picks in a row? Tempting, but no. I would pick Gonzalez, the other wide receiver from Ohio State. Most people will wait on him and hope he is there at #60, They will be disappointed. He is a top 50 player and won't be available at #60.

#60. We have addressed OL and WR. Now is the time to address the defensive backfield. If Drew Stanton is here, we take him. I believe he will be taken between 40 and 60. So, do we go corner or safety? Five interceptions all last year. How pathetic is that? If we go corner it will be between Wilson and Wright. Personally, I would take Wright. However, if it was me, I would go safety and take John Wendling from Wyoming. Some people will want Weddle or Rouse. It is a matter of personal preference and I choose Wendling.

#71. I love so many of the third rounders. I need about three more picks in this round. However, If I don't address QB on the first day some wingnut is going to fly north and firebomb my house. My pick here is Kevin Kolb from Houston. I also wouldn't mind Talley the corner from Duke, Durant the middle linebacker or Sepulvada the punter because Donnie Jones stunk so bad last year. Somebody is going to take him in this round, so why not us?

4Rd. The best centre available. Probably either Datish or Stephensen, unless WR Jacoby Jones from Lane College is on the board, then we take him.

This is my first post and attempt at a mock draft. All feedback is considered constructive criticism so fire away.

Actually a pretty good post. However, you are completely wrong about one thing, everybody does NOT love Levi Brown, because I don't want anything to do with him at #9 overall (or anywhere near the top of the draft period).

Nice writeups on everything too. I have been wanting to do one with big writeups for awhile, but I find myself so bias towards getting Quinn (I have NEVER begged for a player this badly before) that everytime I TRY to make a mock it always seems to "just work out" that we get Quinn somewhow .

I have a few mocks that I made posted around the forum, but every single one has Quinn in round 1 and I find it WAY to hard for me to type anything other than Brady Quinn in our 1st round spot.

I could go with that. Justin Fry is another possibilty and maybe we trade down our fourth and pick up a fifth and get someone like him or the others U mentioned.

What's with the man love for Justice? He is probably the most physically gifted OT in years but apparently he's a major head case. I agree with your draft assessment completely. Willis is the BPA @ 9 but in our case, the most prudent thing to do is trade down. With the rookie salaries skyrocketing, it's something we should do every year. Even if Quinn falls to 9 (unlikely) and we take him, he's not a steal, because he'd be paid as if he's been a successful starter for years as an unproven rook! These 1st rounders are so overpaid it's ridiculous! Trade down and gather as many pick's as possible! Unfortunately that's not the Dolphin way, we like to give away high draft picks, it's what we do best and it's why we've sucked for so long! The best Dolphin players in the last 23 years: Dan Marino; late 1st rounder. Mark Duper: 2nd rounder, Mark Clayton: 5th/6th rounder, Jason Taylor: 3rd rounder, Zack Thomas: 6th rounder.

I totally understand with trading down, but who's to say Miami will have that trading power? Hell, Detroit is thinking of trading down. Tells you how much they care about picking at #2. Of course, salaries at that number are ridiculous, so I see their point. But I still doubt there is a player at 9 to warrant someone wanting to trade up a few spots. Is Wannystache coaching in the NFL again?

Patrick Willis will probably be BPA. Of course, the draft is always crazy, especially the first day. Would not be surprised to see Quinn there.....

Much easier said than done....it's just not gonna happen. :shakeno:

i think the one guy u take at 9 if there is quinn....I like what I see oline wise in rounds 2-4 so I also dont want Levi Brown....My ideal scenario to be honest is a trade down to 12-15 area where we get another 2nd-3rd rounder and draft Ted Ginn Jr....this guy can flat out play and will fill not one need but three as a WR KR and PR....We can then concentrate on oline in the 2nd-3rd round and secondary and QB....
