If the Dolphins want to hire someone to improve the offense, they should hire Mike Leach from Texas Tech. He's just as qualified as any other candidate. Here's an article about him. No one in the current available coaching pool can really differentiate themself versus the other candidates. I'd rather take a chance with someone innovative.

Im not familiar with him, what kind of system does he run?

UM didnt even want him

He runs some great offenses in COLLEGE, but he doesnt run the ball often and runs what is basically a pure spread offense.

He runs a very fast paced offense just like they do at Hawaii.....receivers often make 100+ catches a season at Texas Tech. Leach would make a great OC.

No he wouldnt....unless you FORCED him to run the ball.

I think he is a great guy to coach smaller college teams because the system he runs can pull off some upsets and good seasons, but I wouldnt want him for a high profile job.

He's also what they call Clinically Insane.

No, seriously.

Can we drop the "Let's hire a random college coach" threads? I mean seriously, you think this guy's non-pro style offense justifies him being a head coach in the NFL?!?! Gimme a break.

i dont see him as a good head coach and i wouldnt want him here ..... i would rather have capers be hc here

So, his style is more like a "Run and Shoot" style offense?

That style of offense usually won't work in the NFL. Look at Spurrier when he was with the Redskins.

I dont like this style of offense, if thats the kind he runs. Its too much one deminsional, can be stopped by a good defensive game plan.

It worked well with Houston in the 80's and Atlanta had some sucess with it as well. But come time for the playoffs, it was way too vanilla, soft, couldnt run the ball in the 4th to wear down defenses and burn off the clock. Had major problems scoring in the red zone at key times during the season, in inclimate weather and in the playoffs as well.
