As many of you know I live in Detroit and I am a big Michigan State fan, and love Kellen Davis. He's 6-6 246lbs (weighed in at the combine at 259) and is a player. I mean This kid is a very tough and physical athlete. He was a very productive TE this year his stats were :

32 receptions
513 yards
16 yards a recption
6 TD's
No fumbles his entire career at MSU

He also played D-Line on occasion this year as well which shows that this kid will do anything for his team. It also shows he is a very tough player, and can handle the terminalogy of both sides of the ball.

Combine:

40 yard dash- 4.60
Bench Press- 22 reps

Botttom Line-
We should take him in rounds 3-4 if he's still there. I really think he's going to be somehting specail.

And plus, if we trade JT, he can replace him as the bald Dolphin!

come to think of it hes also similar in JT skin color... we cant go wrong on that.. lets draft him!!!! lol:hi5:

Yeah, when you see him in a helmet you can't help but wonder if that's JT's younger brother, lol.

I know he's one of the TE's the Dolphins are scrutinizing closely, so we're definitely interested. Unfortunately, I think his strong showing at the combine (4.6!) will pull him out of our reach. I see us targeting a TE in the 4th, with a lot of good ones still likely to be available. We might draft one at the top of the 3rd, but I think that's where we'd have to take Davis if we want him. Personally, I think there's a lot of guys that we probably have rated close to Davis, so I'm expecting us to wait until the 4th to draft one.

Another guy the Dolphins like, and I really really like, is Jermichael Finley. He may not have the athleticism of Davis, but he's a more natural receiver and a he does posses deep speed. Because of Finley's less-than-stellar workout numbers I think he may fall to the 4th, but I seriously doubt Davis does.

I'd love to have Davis in the 4th, he's one of a nice large group of good TE's I'd love to have in the 4th, but my top 2 are Jermichael Finley and John Carlson, both of whom are natural pluck catchers and dominant red-zone targets. Carlson will probably be gone, but if for some strange reason Davis is there in round 4 and Finley is not, I think we'll be getting a steal. :)

damn he looks like a big david boston wow at tight end thats fine with me draft that man!

Good info man.

I would debate about taking him in the 3rd
Take him in the forth in a heartbeat,

iv'e been impressed with jermicheal finley out of texas myself and hope we get him here. while i don't know alot about kellen davis one of the biggest attributes for jermicheal has been his athletisizim..very athletic guy and as you stated can catch the football really well. i think he showed some of that athleticness at the combine. being so close to texas might have me a little on the bias side so it's good to here there's atleast one other that that has eyed him.

Dustin Keller is who I feel this team needs.

I do know that as a Mich State fan you know who Dustin Keller from purdue is. I also know that you are right that your boy does have some good talent and size, but I think Keller is going to be a huge hit in the NFL for some team.

Kellers Stats:

68 Receptions
881 Yards
13 Yards Average
7 TD's
80 Yards Long

Either one of these guys would be a great pickup, but I personally would love to have Keller in the Aqua and Orange.

Unless it's 6th round or later, I wouldn't touch Davis. He has a poor work-ethic, goes down too easily for a big man and most likely doesn't have what it takes to make it as a pro. He's a guy who could have been the highest rated TE in the draft if he wasn't lazy. Very risky pick.

Yeah, that's why I wanted to post this. This kid has all the tools we need for a TE.

Except being a HUGE underachiever. Many scouts doubt whether he has the work ethic to make it in the pros. Typical "Looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane" guy. NO WAY would I spend a third round pick on this kid. There is a really big chance of him being a bust.
