If you aren't a gator, you're gator bait
While Miami was hindered by only having two first day picks, (getting culpepper for a 2nd rounder was great though), they made the most of it. They picked up secondary help that can contribute right away, and another wide receiver to add depth. Also, if this season is Booker's last, Hagan can serve as his future replacement.
Our draft this year didn't contain the "flashy". We went more to the athletes with intangibles, and size. Nick Saban once again picked up players who fell due to inssues that aren't drastic. Before you say "A degenerative hip condition is drastic", realize that Saban wouldn't have drafted Allen if he didn't pass the physical and our doctors gave the ok. As far as Hagan, is biggest knock is that he drops too many balls, and that he's inconsistent. It's like Chris Chambers Deja-vu. But with the proper coaching, this can be fixed and we could see Hagan become a consistent playmaker. We all saw what happened with Chambers towards the end of the season.
The grade is a B for now due to lack of "flash" and super stars. But, there is a great chance that at the end of the year our draft will be worth an A. Last year we were the only team to have 3 rookies start atleast 12 games. Saban is able to get players who can contribute, despite the name and hype. (Aside from Brown, there wasn't a large amount of hype surrounding Crowder and Daniels.) I see no reason to expect less this year.
