While Miami was hindered by only having two first day picks, (getting culpepper for a 2nd rounder was great though), they made the most of it. They picked up secondary help that can contribute right away, and another wide receiver to add depth. Also, if this season is Booker's last, Hagan can serve as his future replacement.

Our draft this year didn't contain the "flashy". We went more to the athletes with intangibles, and size. Nick Saban once again picked up players who fell due to inssues that aren't drastic. Before you say "A degenerative hip condition is drastic", realize that Saban wouldn't have drafted Allen if he didn't pass the physical and our doctors gave the ok. As far as Hagan, is biggest knock is that he drops too many balls, and that he's inconsistent. It's like Chris Chambers Deja-vu. But with the proper coaching, this can be fixed and we could see Hagan become a consistent playmaker. We all saw what happened with Chambers towards the end of the season.

The grade is a B for now due to lack of "flash" and super stars. But, there is a great chance that at the end of the year our draft will be worth an A. Last year we were the only team to have 3 rookies start atleast 12 games. Saban is able to get players who can contribute, despite the name and hype. (Aside from Brown, there wasn't a large amount of hype surrounding Crowder and Daniels.) I see no reason to expect less this year.

I give it a B-. Allen was an ok pickup, and hagan seems like a pick that may become usefull. Last years draft was an A because of the pickups we made in the 1st and 3rd rounds. True we were farther down this year but we did not seem to get any immediate impact players. Although considering how many DB's were picked up picking one in the first was needed.

I don't know why you would say that

i think allen was a good pickup and hagan too...but after drafting allen i was alil misty eye on who he was..but after researching him and the hagan pick...i give the dolphins a B PLus..i'll give them an A if they draft another dback cuz theres ttoo many good dbacks still remaining to pass up

I've got to give it an "A" so far. Allen was the best Safety available and he can play corner as well. Hagen was a productive receiver in college and will be a good back-up receiver behind Chambers and Booker. You throw in Culpepper as our new franchise QB for only a 2nd round pick. I've got to rate that as an "A". Still some more needs/holes to fill.

Yeah agreed. How can you say something like that before they've played in a game? In the pre-season? Or even in off-season workouts?

Come to think of it, how can you give a grade for the draft when the draft itself isn't even over yet?

Bing and Simpson have to be two potential players Sabans is pondering on drafting in the fourth. You can never have enough quality depth in the secondary.

I agree. Even more so with Saban being a db guru.:dolphins:I hope we get Ko Simpson. I would be jumping for joy. Unfortunately I think he will be one of the first called tomorrow.:(

If we make up some ground on the second day, I might give us a B, but it better be a good second day.

We must Keep The Faith as Miami Faithful! Trust in Nick, and hope we move up in the 4th to do further greatness!

Keep the faith we shall, I couldn't have asked for more out of our first 2 picks.

We should really look at bing. Our safties could be a tandem for a while if we got allen and bing. Simpson works too but I prefer Bing for some reason.

Well I think coming into this draft we had 3 big needs. Those needs being safety, #3 WR, and OLB. Now we filled 2 of those holes with very good players IMO. Tomorrow if we can get our OLB and a DT and then BPA, I will be very pleased. I think at the end of the day tomorrow, we will have an A-.

A. 1.jason allen 2. daunte culpepper 3.derek hagan

talk about filling needs -- franchise qb, 3rd reciever if not future 2nd -- a safety/corner that if not injured is the best db in the draft. We would have taken huff if he fell, but he didnt. so we took the guy who has the ability of a Huff, assuming he comes back from injury. Sure Allen isnt the pick many of us wanted, but if he was healthy hed have been top ten, no question. the rewards are huge. If we add darnell Bing we will have added a safety tandemn, young, that will wreak havoc on the Afc East for the next 10 years.

I live in AZ and I have seen Hagan a lot. Trust me you will all LOVE him!
