I doubt Ryan will be the first pick.He showed me,by not throwing, that he wasn't sure of himself. He is really starting to raise my eyebrow.I was all for us drafting this guy 2 weeks ago. But,he hasnt done nothing, except the Skills Competion, but even though he won 1,he still hasn't impressed me,or even solidified he was the number 1 QB,even though he probably is because it is so weak this year.A QB in the NFL has to be confident, strong, and belief in his abilities,Matt Ryan hasn't done anything of the sort.He really fumbled the ball with me so far..

i have never been a huge ryan fan, i think he can be successfull but i never some him as elite which you have to be if you are picked #1
i like brohm and woodson

i know woodsons stock is dropping because of his mechanics and his decision making but i think this kid has all the tools to be very good qb, and someone in the late second or third round who drafts him may get the steal of the draft

It was Alex Smith in 2005, Brady Quinn in 2007, and now Matt Ryan in 2008. Whenever the quarterback class is weak, somebody who's not supposed to rise to the top always does. Matt Ryan damn sure wouldn't have been the number one quarterback in 2004 or 2006.

I like BC (as a BYU fan), and respect Ryan.

However, I don't see him as a #1 pick. There are many here that are on the Ryan Love Train, and feel he's the Second Coming (while there's no proof).

I say, let's go ahead and draft him.....if he's available in later rounds. It's just not a wise investment to put the money a #1 demands on a pick whose talent has shown to be no better (on paper) than the QB we drafted last year.

EDIT:

I will also say that I'm not impressed when a player of ANY position is invited to the combine, and they Cherry-pick what they will participate in. If you don't want to do the drills, GET OUT! so someone who wants to show their wares can attend.

I hated it last year with Quinn and Russell, and I hate it with Ryan.

I think he will be solid. In big games he always shows up plus he didn't have a very good team around him. How many other BC players are going high besides the line?

I don't think we should take him though. Get Flacco later. He showed up at the combine.

Why do you say his talent is no better on paper, I know its all subjective but I doubt any scout would rate Beck a better prospect than Ryan. This is a strong draft and he is a possible number one pick. You do realize that Beck was the 4th QB picked last year. Three teams chose QB's that they thought were better prospects than Beck. This could all be mute if Beck turns out good beacause the scouting process is very flawed. This is why the best Qb in footbal got drafted in the sicth round.

To your point about the combine, who the hell cares. If a team makes thier final decision on a player based on some crap done in shorts or a Qb skills challenge then lets just not watch any of thier games and have a combine like 3 times and make a choice. You know that Toby Korrodi had the most velocity of any qb in last years draft, yea who really cares lol. Im just trying to figure out what you could find out about Ryan that will not show up on game film. In the end is your opinion of Beck right now more based on his combine or what he did in the NFL last year?
