Well, another game and another loss. I stayed away from radio and tv until I actually got to watch the game Sunday on Sunday Ticket. Some of my views might be re-hashes of what others have said, if so, sorry. I will try not to do a complete reprisal of my random thoughts from last week, so...here goes:

Positives:

1. Wes Welker. Wes Welker. Wes Welker. Last week I said that this guy is becoming my favorite player and making a serious push for offensive MVP in my book. That is over. Welker IS my offensive MVP on this team...it's not even close.

2. Penalties. I was thrilled to see that the penalties had dropped significantly in this game.

3. Ronnie Brown. This was the first time Ronnie really stood out to me, and is my crow eating part of my post. Last week I mentioned that Ricky looked faster, and while he may be, clearly Ronnie is the better option at this point. Ronnie is starting to look more decisive and finally showed me the ability to improvise. Hopefully he can build on this.

4. This is a positive about a negative, but bare with me. While taking a loss is never really good, I think the loss against KC has finally put an end to the excuses. This team has limped along on making excuses for losing (penalties, game plan, etc...) for far too long. The KC game finally been exposed this team for exactly what it is...a team that is still a couple of years away from being a true contender. Now that we have crossed that line, it should be much easier to accept the major changes that are lingering on the horizon.

Negatives:

1. Lack of fire. This is the third week in a row we have come out completely flat, and it is my second helping of crow for the week. After the Carolina game I said that at least with Saban we would never have to worry about being out-physicalled and under-motivated again...boy was I wrong

2. We lack the ability to overcome an early deficit. When the defense has allowed a long scoring drive early, we have lost every game.

3. Tackling....we need to learn how to do it.

4. Offense...where is it? Frerotte 37.3 QB rating against a very questionable KC defense. Chris Chambers 2 catches total, one in trash time. Offensive line still can't open run lanes.

5. Age. It is finally catching up with the defense, and the "December Swoon" is happening earlier with each new year.

6. Zach Thomas has 83 combined tackles and assists. That is great you say? I agree that it is great news for Zach. So what's the problem? Lance Shulters is the second highest in tackles and assists with 40. IOW, our defense is way too lopsided in production. It's telling that if our middle linebacker misses, far too often it is going to be the secondary having to clean up, and take away Schulters, and we have serious problems.

This is looking to be another long season..........
