remember ur 1st chance may be ur last
Let me start off by saying i for one am sick of being at the bottom of the league every single since the Marino days and wasting the superb amount of defense that has come through in the last 10+ years. That said I think most of us agree that its time to go a different route than the Johnson, wanny, and Saban defensive minds especially with Capers all but locked up(hasn't dotted the I's and crossed the T's so to speak).
So knowing we most likely would be going offense lets take a look at possible canidates:
1.Chan Gailey-friend of Waynes and former OC with the club.In 2 seasons as OC with the phins made playoffs but ranked in bottom quarter of the league both years in total offense. Was HC of Dallas for 2 years making the playoffs twice as well.
2. Brian Schottenheimer- Jets OC, 33 yrs old, only 1yr experience at OC but regarded as a good young creative offensive mind, son of chargers Head Coach Marty.
3.Cam Cameron- Chargers offensive cordinator for last couple years proven in the league, regarded as one of the top young assistants in the NFL led an offense this that led their team to an 14-2 record and housed the NFL's mvp.
Now after looking at the possibilites we all know Gailey wasnt that bad but he also hasnt merited any reason as to why we think he'd be able to do achieve anything better than mediocracy. As far as Brain goes all we really know about him is hes veryyy young has only been an offensive coordinator for 1 season and during his one year as OC with the jets their offense ranked in the bottom third of the league. and then we have Cam Cameron who cam into this year regarded as on of the best assistants in the NFL and is known for his great offenses hes produced with the chargers. Granted he did have a lot of weapons but i feel with a healthy Culepepper back we have a lot too. Cam is a proven coach which you cant say for Shotty and he has shown he knows what to do with LT(yesterday was not his fault te players started to lose their heads and that falls on the head coach)imagine what Ronnie could do in his system. HEs also helped Bress and Rivers become the QB's they are today and that could help if we are planning on taking a Qb in the draft at some time this year.
So my question to all of you is what is attractive about Brian Shottenheimer being that he is young, unproven, and didnt even produce that well this year in his only seaon as OC?
especially when we all dont want to have to go through this process again in the next 2 yrs because he wasnt ready or just didnt work out. To me the safest bet is Cam Cameron.
I honestly hope we dont go after Shotty but No matter what i will support the fins in their decison and will hope i was wrong!
GO PHINS!!!!:dolphins:
