alright everyone, after a couple months of reading through this board, these are just some things that i think need to be said, take them as you will.

1. please, one game at a time

too many of us are looking ahead--whats going to happen two weeks from now? what if this happens within the division? what if this team loses to this team? what if we win the playoffs?

notice the common trend: they are all purely hypothetical situations. in my opinion, as fans, we need to take things one game at a time and not worry about the future, beause, quite frankly we cannot cantrol the future. hell, we cant control what happens on sunday either. so we might as well save each other the stress and take things one game at a time.

2. stop worrying about free agents

guys, we have arguably one of the greatest minds ever running our front office. if they feel a guy can contribute to the team, they will sign him. there is no need to sit on here and speculate whether or not we will pick up useless guys such as keary colbert or justin miller. let the decisions be made by the men up top. have faith in them.

3. be positive

why the negativity all over the place? guys, we are above .500 a year after going 1-16! if we didnt win another game at all this year i can honestly say that i would be satisfied. yet, i look around and i see people nit picking over the stupidest things ever-- oh, this guy doesnt get enough playing time! or oh, dolphin stadium needs new seat colors! or ted ginn is incompetant!

come on guys, stop bitching about the negative stuff, and start living in the moment. take things one day at a time and be happy we are where we are.

4. be the 12th man

our role as fans is first and foremost to be supportive of this team. if we stand together as fans and support this team they will rally with us, and with that there is nothing that they will not be able to accomplish. one step at a time.

go dolphins.

I agree with numbers 3 and 4, but I'll never understand why fans tell other fans to "take it one game at a time." Speculating ahead is fun and interesting for some people. It literally has no effect on the team at all. Analyzing the December schedule isn't going to make Chad Pennington prepare any less for the Raiders coverage schemes. Debating Miami's playoff chances isn't going to make Tony Sparano take Oakland lightly. Really, where's the harm?

i agree.
That is something we have as fans..
the ability to look ahead as far as we want.

My thoughts at the moment on your thought:

1) I have no problem with you deciding to take it one game at a time, but what difference does it make if another fan decides to get excited about the future? The Raiders are a trap game for the team, so THE TEAM really shouldn't get caught up in looking past them to the Pats. The good thing is that we fans aren't the team so this isn't a "trap" game for us. If anything, fan excitement about playoffs may get more excited fans to the game who cheer loudly and help the team. I am not saying you shouldn't have your approach to being a fan, but it isn't any more intelligent or effective to do it your way.

2) There are many ways to enjoy football beyond just watching the game. Speculating about possible ways to improve the team by FA acquisitions is just one of those ways. If you don't enjoy it, don't do it, but there is no reason to expect that other fans who have a different manner of enjoying football games can't speculate or even fantasize about what it would be like to bring in the FA of their choice. It certainly doesn't show a lack of faith in the current FO. It's just fun.

3) This is a fan forum whose goal is to facilitate Dolphins fans discussing their favorite NFL team. Sometimes people who care about something will focus on the negatives at any given moment. If someone is concerned about Ted Ginn at 3:37 PM on a Tuesday, and wants to talk about it, why not write it here? You don't have to read it. It's not like even 70% of the posts here are negative, so you do have options. To be clear, I am not suggesting there aren't silly negative posts, but it isn't that they are negative or critical that makes them stupid. There are both intelligent and unintelligent positive and negative posts. IMO, if it helps me learn more about the game, it helps me appreicate its nuances more and makes it more enjoyable and fun.

4) I agree, but I don't see how your points 1-3 are relevant to point 4. A member here at FH can workout 3 different playoff scenarios while suggesting which NT, WR, or DB he would like to acquire in FA all the while questioning some aspect of our team and STILL be loud and painted in aqua and orange from head to toe at Dolphin Stadium on Sunday.

is it just me or does anyone feel that last game against the jets will be a lot tougher then we excpected, not due to them being a much better team then us but for the reasons being that i feel that brett favre and the jets offense gets every little stinkin call go there way, and i feel like no matter how well we play the nfl kisses brett favres a** and that especially if a playoff spot is on the line for both teams, they will do everything possible to have the jets win the game. i can guarentee everyone here that if on leon washingtons return yesterday it was ted ginn and the dolphins instead, there would be a penalty, but god forbid they can call one on the jets on any play or it may prevent them from achieving what they want.

1) After a 1-15 season, I dont think you can blame people for getting excited at the prospect of the team going to the play-offs or at least contending for a play off birth. Good to see the excitement and buzz back in the Fins again TBH.

3) Fair enough not being negitive over the small things that you mentioned. BUT there is noting wrong about being negitive about our Special Teams for example. When a unit is playing that poorly it cant be over-looked

What gives you the right to tell other fans what to think or how to think it? I don't mind the debate about free agents, nor the opinions on how this team can get better. I've got my opinions, and, many others have them too. What I can't stand is people coming on any board and telling other people to "Calm down" or "Be positive"...You know what? I've been a fan of this franchise since 1973 and I've got a good handle on what I should or shouldn't do.

Brother, if you want a board full of..."Yay Dolphins!" and "Dolphins Do Nothing Wrong Again!" I submit you may've come to the wrong board. Your opinions, are of course, welcome, but, dissenting opinions have just as much validity as positive opinions.
