3. Jared Zabransky QB (Bosie State) - 6'2" 206 runs a 4.5

Postives
Zabransky is a 3 year starter at Bosie State.... Zabransky is the fastest QB in this years class... a really tough kid and a hard worker...has that gunslinger mentality that you look for...can throw very well on the run...has great arm strength....very accurate with good touch and timing....can make big plays with his feet.

Negatives
Can be inconsistant at times....trys to force passes that arent there....mechanics are sloppy at times....will try to do too much sometimes...stares down his WR's too much

Overall
mid-rounder

2. Drew Stanton QB (Michigan State) - 6'3" 230 runs a 4.7

Positives
Has good size...excellent arm strength...a great all-around athlete...can make big plays with his arm and his feet....can make all the throws....at his best on the run....has good accuracy....has the moxie to be a NFL starter

Negatives
Can be great in some games and terrible in others....has a hard time getting into rythm at times...doesnt do good under pressure...battled a few injuries so durabilty is a concern....eager to run at times....doesnt keep his composure very well

Overall
2nd-3rd rounder

1. Trent Edwards QB (Stanford) - 6'4" 220 runs a 4.7

Positves
Was a top recruit out of high school....has the NFL size....can make all the throws with good touch and timing....a very accurate QB.....very smart with the ball.... can read defences very well....can make throws on the run...has a quick release....has great potential to be a NFL star

Negatives
Played on a bad team with a terrible offensive line....will try to do too much at times....has battled injuries in his college career so durabilty is the bigest concern.

Overall
Interesting prospect, hard to get a good read on him with the lack of talent around him, has all the tools you look for in a QB, his senior season ended in October when he broke his foot. had he finshed his senior season he would probably have been the "Jay Cutler" of this year. Combine workouts will help him show his talent

2nd-3rd rounder

Was this your own analysis? If so, I'm impressed with your knowledge of Edwards. I've followed him for the last 3 years and you are right on the money.

Nice Post Fins.. I got a question for you, who would be your NFL comparisons of each of these guys based on playing style?

i was on the michigan state sidelines this year when they got beat at indiana, and stanton was having an awful game and he later got pulled from it, but after every possession he came off and sat on the bench and didnt say a word to anybody he just stared into space as if he didnt give a damn indiana had the worst secondary in the big ten this year and he should have been licking his chops waiting to get back out there, instead he seemed more than content to watch the game on the jumbo tron .... not somebody i want on the dolphins

this is a great post. I like the idea of getting a QB in the later rounds, probably on the 2nd day. That probably means that Stanton would be out of the mix, but I think Edwards is certainly the guy you'd want to look at first. Zabransky is an appealing pick too, he'll make some boneheaded plays, but there's no doubt he can certainly focus in the big game.

I don't think Zabransky will transition well to the NFL. And I think Stanton is overrated. He had a lot of talent at wide out and couldn't do much with it. I like Edwards though, I think he'd be worth a chance if we could get him in the third.

Jared Zabransky reminds me of little bit of Brett Farve, both have that gunslinger mentality about them, Zabransky is a tough kid, and we all know how tough Brett farve is.

When I see Drew Stanton play I cant help but to think of Alex Smith when he was with Utah, both are very athletic.

Trent Edwards reminds me of Philip Rivers...both guys are big and both have quick release on the ball

Jared Zabransky is a jeff garcia clone including the inconsistent play and untimely interceptions. He was seeing a sports psychologist after his interception last year that cost the broncos the mpc bowl against boston college. I see him as more of a Jim Jensen type of player. Fast and is a good all around athlete but not a nfl calibre qb.

thanks for the info 'fins'. man, Edwards situation sounds alot like Marino's... hard not to get excited about that!

Great writeup, but Zebranksi and Staton will be available in the second day..
