First and foremost...I was very happy to get back to watching some football. We got out relatively unscathed..which is a good thing.
The Low Down:
I thought both QB's looked good. I thought Frerotte looked more comfortable in the pocket knowing the scheme. He did evade some rush to buy time. I thought Feeley did a good job. Of the two..Feeley throws the much better ball IMO. To be honest..Im pulling for AJ, but he does have some work ahead of him. "IF" he can get more comfortable back there..he could be real good. He also needs to check down more often.
The O line looked bad on the surface..but then again I was suprised to see how much Chicago blitzed. In the first game..thats usually not the case. I think Lovie Smith had a different motive than Saban with game one. He came out guns blazing. Saban came out to work on things. Thats the biggest difference.
Im concerned about people staying home on pursuit. The counter run worked perfectly against us last night.
Saw some great stuff from Boston..and some of our backup TE's Diamond and the other guy..dont even know his name.
Our new punter did a good job putting the ball inside the 10. Turk was booming them..but they ended up in the endzone more often than not.
Welker did a good job returning kicks. Hes lightning in a bottle and is going to return a few. He also had a nice first down catch. I think hes going to develop into a heck of a third down reciever.
Roth has a motor..no doubt..but at this level..the bull rush aint gonna cut it. He needs to develop some technique..but that will come.
So..to some it all up. Contrary to what alot of people are posting...the sky is not falling Dolphans. We have some things to work on..no doubt..but I saw plenty to leave me feeling good that the ship is definatley headed in the rght direction. As long as we see continual improvement week to week..I think our team will be a pleasant suprise this year.
