N.F.L. Brings Expanded Season Proposal to Union

the only way i see this happening is if the nfl and owners expand the 53 man roster and increase the salary cap by 15-20%. Just one mans opinion.
Honestly, I'd be pretty sick if they added two more games to the schedule, thus pretty much ruining every record currently in the books by giving every player two more games to break it, which would happen to every single one eventually. I already hate enough that there is a discrepancy between 14 game and 16 game records, why do we need to muddle things up even more? I can understand cutting out the extraneous preseason games, but further muddying the history of the game to add two more games for what would pretty much amount to extra revenue (which they would probably have to have to placate the union) is pretty shallow to me.
As popular as the NFL is, those fans who love baseball for its history and tradition will never be able to find that appeal in football. While the Super Bowl reigns supreme over every other sporting even in America, what the NFL might not realize is that the ever-increasing spectacle of it is actually making the football games being played irrelevant in the minds of many. Also, regular season games are already getting watered-down enough with teams clinching early and letting potential playoff teams walk to the playoffs, pretty much ruining the thrill of the playoff race. It's sad when football fans actually buy into the mockery that is the BCS because they have lead themselves to believe that in a season where big teams play a small handful of teams capable of beating a season, "every game counts".
Having two more games will increase revenue, but it hurts the tradition and depth of the game and that's not in the best long-term interests of the league. Nevertheless, money now is concrete while longterm consequences are indefinite.

AFAIK, the salary cap is determined using some kind of formula based on league-wide earnings. So with two extra games worth of revenue, the cap would naturally expand.
