N.y. Giants Wellington Mara passes away.

They said he opened his eyes and saw Eli's TD pass, then closed them again.

Good owner! NFL will miss him. The other owner is dying also, Tish has a Brain tumor (Cancer)
 
One of the good men of football for sure... He was one of the group that pushed for revenue sharing to save the small markets and benefit football as a whole... A great visionary, man!

since i live in teh NY area, i usually root for the giants to do well anyways. plus, i hate the rest of the teams in the NFC east lol


RIP mara, you were always talked about as a great owner in the NY area

yeah really. he was a visionary. you think steinbrenner would ever push for that? :lol:
 
I agree, he was a great man who was loved by his players and fans tremendously. The Giants got a lot of great years out of the man. R.I.P!

well steinbrenner didn't like the luxury tax because of vince naimoli, who owned the rays (notice the OWNED, thank god). naimoli would keep all the money he got from the luxury tax himself and put a small percentage into the minor leagues. steinbrenner doesn't want to throw money away if it's not going to be use
