Nasty's Notes:

Sorry I missed the last practice... I was out of town... Anyway, today was a good practice. Good tempo and rythem. Oh... and I got Sabans autograph! I was pretty stoaked about that...

Quick Notes-
- Tebucky Jones, Holiday, Akins, and I think Mario Edwards were all in red today
- Lots of blitzing from lots of different areas. JT dropped back from LB to cover a WR while the CB blitzed along with the linebacker. Just alot of blitzing. I think it is good for our O-Line as well because they are learning and seeing all kinds of different blitz packages.
- I thought both QBs actually looked pretty sharp out there today. It was very encouraging. It was the best practice I have seen from them so far. I gave them a push and ranked them equal...
- When the scrimaging started... the defense opened up with kinda like a 3-5 defense with one saftey deep. It was pretty crazy lookin at first... at first glance I was kinda confused and took a sec to figure out what was goin on. It was definatly cool looking. The starters in this D were...

LE - K Carter
NT - Wright
RE - Zgonina
OLB - Taylor
MLB - Crowder
MLB - Zach
OLB - Spragan
CB - Madison
CB - Howard
S - Either Bell or Shulters but I'm pretty sure it was Bell
EDIT: I believe the 11th player was actually Shulters playing up at the line with Bell playing deep in the middle of the field.

OK...

Feeley - Had some awesome throws today. Was putting it over the DBs and away or under the safteys. Deep ball was clean and on target. Wasnt pushing it. He still sometimes locks onto a receiver. Also had a couple missed passes to guys that are short. Throws too hard and needs to work on touch with his shorter passes... But the deep ball was beautiful.

Gus - Also had some beautiful passes. Had a great one down the sideline on a fly. He is OBSESSED with Randy McMike. Was his absolute favorite target out there. If Gus starts... pick up McMike in fantasy! (maybe its the system too? Wiggins was the leading receiver while Moss was out. just speculation) He was sharp. Threw a int. (Shulters) on a deep route once. It was underthrown. (I will go into more detail on Shulters) besides that though... he look pretty good out there

McMike - Looked great! Had lots of touches and caught pretty much everything.

Boston - Definatly his best practice. Boston had some great catches. He was goin deep effectivly, one time hejumped over a defender and caught a pass, and also had a diving catch over the middle. He looked good.

Reggie Howard - It wasnt his best practice. One time, he was out of place on a zone and a receiver caught a ball where he was supposed to be covering... Saban was pissed! :fire: He ripped in to Reggie real good! He did later get a sack from a cornerback blitz from the blind side.

Crowder - Is looking very impressive out there. Before I was reporting that he was looking lost. However, today he seemed more comfortable than I have seen before. Seems to be grasping the D a little better. He still needs to work on it... but he is improving.

Vernon Carey - Looks good as usual. Got burned by a nice move by JT once. Overall, still looking good.

Wright - He is a big boy. Was starting on first team in with 3 down linemen at NT. When lined up at NT... he actually dropped back into coverage in a shallow middle zone once.

Gilmore - Had a noteable practice... played pretty well

Shulters - Had an int off Gus. The ball was underthrown and Shulters read it and cut underneith the receiver for the pick. It was a nice play and hope to see more of that. I also saw alot of Shulters lined up accross from Bell.

McKinny - Started at C today.

Vickerson - Is actually starting to impress me out there. He doesnt look like a turd out there. Seems to play real well against the run and finds the RB. Still needs work... but I am starting to like this kid.

Taylor - He is really all over the place! OLB on both sides... standing back from line of scrimmage... and then 3-pt and 4-pt stances some times. Both dropping back and rushing from standing and down... I havent been writing about him since you all know he is doing good, but I thought I would let you guys know how crazy he is gunna be this year...

Welker - He is actually getting better at WR. Like I have said before, I am very critical about Wes actually getting reps at WR, but the past 2 camps I have attended he seems to be doing pretty decent. Actually ran some slants over the middle (I hope they dont do that in a game... he is gunna get killed) and caught them nicely in stride and took them for big gains... and one for and nice TD with a great downfield block by a WR (maybe Boston?)

Donald Lee - ACTUALLY CAUGHT SOME PASSES TODAY! He definatly had a couple of drops, but he had a good number of catches today. (He must be reading here  )

EDIT:
Kay Jay Harris - He looked pretty good out there today. He had one real nice run for about 30 yards and seems to be adjusting to the NFL. He doesnt make the team if final cuts are today... but he is improving and looking better.

Aight... Thats all I got for now... If you have any questions just ask...

That's 10. You missing someone?

THX NASTY. By the way I am trying to get a sense if Feeley is looking better this year than last? It sounds like he's hitting a little bit of a groove the last couple of practices. Am I reading that wrong?

Thanks man, nice to hear that the QBs are playing well. Was Mckinney getting mauled like usual? And also since nobody's been talking about him, is Zach having a good camp? Good to hear Crowder is getting comfy, I'd like to see what kind of pair Zach and him could make, should be pretty amazing.

Nice catch... and ya... and now that I think about it... Fin Fan Cali was prob right about the 5th LB actually being a saftey lined up at the line. ..

Be real interesting if you could remember who the safety was that was playing deep. Then it'd be a real discussion on who that safety was playing close.

He has been looking better the last couple of practices... But still locks on sometimes though. Hes not there yet but hopefully he will be. Needs to work on the short routes. His deep ball is something though...
