What are the chances of Jones being re-signed? Post your opinions, comments & analysis.

he is a pretty good nickel back for us, and since i dont think any CB's will be drafted this year or picked up through FA, i think he will be re-signed.

probably pretty good...he was always nothing more than a special teamer until he got to Miami....hopefully nobody else sees him as anything more than that.

I hope so. He has made some good contributions this year.

I think that all depends on the staff's opinion of Jason Allen, which according to reports are good. Will Allen will be coming back from injury, so I doubt he will regain his starting spot, meaning that I think that Davis and Smith have probably cemented their starting spots for the next 6 years at least.

I think that Jones has played himself into a starting spot somewhere else. I wouldn't mind having him back, but not sure he will be back.

I don't know the salaries/contracts up and down like some of you guys do but wouldn't it be expensive to keep Will Allen with Smith and Davis as the starters? Is it some deal where it cost money even if they cut him? I get lost on this contract crap sometimes.

We have done a pretty good job grooming corners in this system. Andre Goodman turned into starting material and he signed elsewhere. I see Jones soon as a starting corner somewhere that needs corners desperately. Depending on how much he asks though, I see us re-signing him.

Surprised by the responses in this thread.

He is above average for a #4/dime corner... he is a below average #3 CB and has shown thus far this season.

I continually see this guy geting blown up for easy 3rd down conversions... aim for Nate Jones to get a 1st down.

He was decent for us before W. Allen got hurt cause he was in on rare occasion and was usually matched up against a 4th receiver.

I expect him to be re-signed but not for much. Maybe $2/year.

I see the same backfield next year with perhaps a safty thrown in. He is the only one we need to resign back there. I really expect a linebacker in the first round. I would prefer a nose tackle type though to reinforce the quaterback position of our defense. In term of the hole at wide reciever expect another veteran or 2 pickup to fill that spot. Parcells and company like their TE's and LB picks though they have not really gone heavy handed that direction the last 2 draft you gotta figure that will change soon. Porter and Taylor should be in situational type roles along with Akin. First round will come down to who is available to fill the biggest hole. Last year it was CB and if Ferg is not resigned then look for the DL same thing if Taylor is not resigned. We gotta stop the run first and that is not happening right now.
