Interesting discussion on satellite radio regarding Pats kickoff strategy. I would rather start at the 25 unless its caught near the goal line. Will Belecheat kick it to the 5 ala last weekend or through the back of the end zone?

Gost can place ot well.

You should let us know what their strategy is. I think some people will be a bit lost since there is no context.

If I knew their strategy I would be on the coaching staff. I believe they will coach their special teams up to have us start in a hole. I don't believe they want Grant getting an opportunity for returns.

No I meant what did they discuss? What did NE do last weekend and do they think it will change for this? Do you know what I mean?

supposedly beli likes to kick it short and have his guys tackle you at the like 10 yard line vs give you the 25 for free by kicking it out of the endzone...although I could see where jakeem grant could change that

It's what I would do - kick it short.

But our kick coverage was so AWFUL in Seattle i wouldn't rush to do it with this bunch or this STC.

It's not just kicking it short but kicking it high towards the sideline, like a directional punt, to try and limit a kick returner's options.

It's called a "Mortar" kick and teams have been trying these, with varying effectiveness, since last season.

Would be kind of risky seeing as if it goes out of bounds we get it at the 45.

Of course it's risky but you are not trying to pin them in the corner, you are trying to kick it high enough outside the hashmarks that you are limiting what a team can do in the return game.

This is one of the reasons the Buccaneers drafted Aguayo so high.

I don't think any team is going to adjust their strategy for Grant until he proves they should. And after last weekend the concern should be that even if he busts one it'll come back due to penalty.

Hopefully they won't be kicking off to us very often, but I'd sacrifice a few yards of starting position to let Grant have a couple shots at breaking one.

No doubt, our luck. Grant will hit a homer and we will get it called back on a off side block in the back.

I just hope we can have decent field position to start drives. Its so aggravating to start at the 10 or so and then it turns into 3rd and longs.

Lets hope they turn the tables on them this week and have them play from behind and not make Garapolo look like Montana.

One thing Bellicheks teams always do well is tackle. I'd be amazed if bellichek was worried about Jakeem Grant. Dude is tiny, bellichek is probably licking his chops to see his guys try to jar the ball out of his hands.
