So I live in Dallas and was excited to see the Dolphins coming to town so I can FINALLY see my first Dolphins game, that is until I realized just how ridiculous ticket prices are at Cowboys Stadium. https://finheaven.com/threads/rant-f-jerry-jones.355497/

Since it would be cheaper to fly to Miami, get a hotel, and go to the game than to see a game here, the wife and I are thinking about flying down for the Bills game in November. This would also be our anniversary weekend, so we are thinking about getting a place on Miami Beach, spend Saturday on the beach, and go to the game on Sunday.

It's been 20 years since I've lived in S. Florida, and I've never been to the stadium. So, I have some questions to my fellow FinFan brothers out there:

1) Transportation - does anyone know if there are shuttle services to/from the airport and Miami Beach, or to/from Miami Beach and the stadium? Or should we just Uber?

2) Should we be looking somewhere other than Miami Beach? My wife has never been to Miami or the Atlantic coast, so I want her to have a great experience (at a reasonable price).

3) Shouldn't the temperatures still be in the 70s at that time? We won't be getting in the water at the beach, but we don't want to be sitting on the beach freezing either.

4) How quickly do you think that game will sell out? We might have to book the flights/hotels now, and get the game tickets a little later to not completely kill our savings.

5) Anything I'm forgetting that I need to consider? Any suggestions on how to make the most of this trip?

Thanks guys. I know we get these threads every year, but every situation is different, so I would appreciate some feedback.

November typically is the perfect time to be in South Florida weather wise.

I wouldn’t worry about the game selling out. Worst case scenario, you will be able to find tickets on game day outside the stadium.

Miami Beach is going to be overpriced, and to be honest, Hollywood beach is the place to be now. Don’t know your budget, but they have the Margaritaville hotel in Hollywood beach. Also, the new Hard rock hotel will open by then. Hard rock isn’t on the beach, likely could be sold out, and isn’t cheap. But it’s a Casino and a short Uber to the stadium.

No chance you freeze at the beach or anywhere in Miami. Probably be upper 70s to low 80s then. When I go down I stay in North Miami Beach/Sunny Isles. Always rent a car. I seriously doubt the game sells out and even if it does, tickets are always available online.

If you want beach do not ever, ever do Miami Beach/South Beach. Worst beaches down here. Plus most hotels in South Beach do not even have beach view.
Hollywood Beach or Fort Lauderdale Beach are the places to go. If you need hotel suggestions let me know.

Miami Beach and South Beach is really only good if you want to do some expensive shopping, expensive lunches and dinners and night time clubbing.

With tickets you could probably wait (worst case scenario I can sell you two tickets at face value) but the rest (hotel, flight etc) should be booked fairly soon.

I like staying in Brikell myself, pig out at Foge de Chao :)

Thanks for the suggestions so far, guys, especially the info regarding the beaches.

Miami Beach/South Beach lives of its 80s reputation. It is great for a day to visit historical stuff and maybe do some shopping on Lincoln Road or a night out sampling authentic hispanic and Cuban food on Espanola Way before heading out into the nighlife but I would never recommend anybody to stay there (touristy stuff is my business by the way).

The beaches in South Beach are quite a walk away and the beaches themselves are wide (takes you forever to get near the water), walzt down and deprived of any palm trees. If you are thirsty you walk forever.

In Hollywood Beach and Ft Lauderdale the beaches are very close to the hotels and motels (across the street), parking is easy, soft sand with palm trees. When you are on these beaches you know that you are in paradise (not so much in Miami Beach). Drinks are just a few steps away.

For night time entertainment you have plenty of beach side bars and clubs and if that is not enough, you are 10 min away from Las Olas Blvd and 15 min from downtown Ft Lauderdale (if you stay in Fort Lauderdale) or Hollywood Downtown (Hollywood Blvd) if you stay in Hollywood Beach.

For shopping and inexpensive food you also have the 17th Street Causway plazas which is 10 min away from Ft Lauderdale Beach.

But whatever you do get your butt up early on Sunday and stop by our tailgate.

New rule this year: any FH member from out of town who announces they will be at a home game and does not show up at the tailgate will be banned. :nah::nah::lol::lol:

As stated ft Lauderdale beach would be the place to stay. Even all the way up to delaray beach and you're still within 40 minutes of the stadium. Unless there's some freak cold snap (very unlikely) the weather will be great for sitting on the beach.

As far as the game in a Dallas or Miami, I would recommend you Buy tickets one hour before the game on an app. The prices come down like crazy as people get desperate to sell. Use the Gametime app or TickPick. You can do the same for the game in Miami.

This method has never failed me, ever or any event.

You are correct though Delray is a little to north if you are only going to the game. I probably would go no further north than Ft Lauderdale-by-the-sea which has made tremendous strides over the years.
Delray Beach I would include if you stay a few more days but not for just a weekend with a Sunday game.

It has never failed you because we suck. It could be tricky if we actually look decent.

Sorry, but that’s not true at all.

I have done it for so many different events not just Phins games. Concerts, basketball, baseball, NFL, doesn’t matter.

I’ve even done the same thing for NFL playoff games Saints @49ers. I did it for the Phins @ Pats game last year when we were 3-0 and then got destroyed.

It always works. Don’t believe, give it try when the season starts. Pick any team, any game, and check prices one week before then one hour before kickoff.

Right about where Hallendale and Hollywood Beaches meet, this is very nice, but not cheap

Lauderdale By The Sea is still kind of quaint and there are some decent 2nd tier relatively inexpensive hotels nearby

Deerfield Beach is further north, but perhaps my favorite beach of them all

I much prefer the Hollywood Beach strand to Los Olas/Ft Lauderdale. Decent to good restaurants, priced like neighborhood ones instead of beach premium, an eclectic diverse group of people on the strand and some good hotels nearby.

You can always uber down to SoBe one night for the experience
