I see a lot of mock drafts where we concentrate on a DE/OLB in the 2nd round. I think Ireland and Parcells are definitely looking for the next JT...even if JT isn't traded. However, when you look at our roster, we already have two intriguing holdovers from last year....Abraham Wright and Quentin Moses. Moses performed very well in spots last year, and Wright showed enough burst in camp to impress the former coaches. Because the DE/OLB spot is a tweener position, Ireland and Parcells might be able to unearth a great prospect in the later rounds.

I'm more concerned with our ILB depth. With Zach gone, we really don't have a proven performer in those 2 ILB spots in the 3-4 defense. Reggie Torbor might be a good signing, but we don't know how he will do with full time duty. Crowder shows flashes here and there, and he definitely has the size, but sometimes he is slow to the play or just doesn't diagnose the situation correctly to be able to make a play. I have a feeling that Parcells and Ireland aren't just looking for ILB depth. I think they're looking for an upgraded starter.

ilb is way more of a need than WR, QB, DE, OLB 9as of right now with jt on roster. we do need a OG and depth but we do not have any gaurenteed bonefied starter as a ILb. i like crowder becuase i no what he could do, but he has done nothing o make me think that lol.

You seriously think WR, QB, and DE are more of a need than ILB? Come on man, we have young guys there who need to be given the chance to play. ILB we don't have anybody to play there...

I think we need to address both the DE/OLB and ILB positions in the draft. I think getting a guy like Cliff Avril with our second 2nd round pick and then get a guy like Beau Bell to play ILB in the 3rd round would be great.

I would love to see Dan Connor show up in Miami next year. Curtis Lofton as well. Either one of those guys at the top of the second, and Miami's got a presence in the middle for the next ten years. My fantasy draft would involve getting both of them.

Actually, my fantasy draft involves James Hardy slipping to #32, but I'm positive that won't happen.

ILB is not a need at this point.. we signed Torbor and still have crowder.

Are you being serious? Torbor was a backup for the most part in New York last year and Crowder, even though I like him, hasn't done much to show he can be a top ILB. And who do we have behind those two unspectacular players? No one. ILB is one of the top needs this team has.

I also like Xavier Adibi with pick #57, A true cover inside LB

6th rd. Joe Mays North Dakota St. 5'11 245. He's a Zach Thomas clone. If he wasn't black, you'd swear that Zach and he came from the same mother. He's got a compact frame. He's intangibles are superb: awareness, tenacity and willingness to take on linemen. Very cerebral player that is quick to diagnose the play and flow to the ball. One of his few liabilities, other than he's height, is his stocky frame causes him to have stiff hips(sounds like Zach). You can't have everything.;) With a pick in the 6th, if he doesn't work out as a starter we can always place him on STs and I feel he would excel. He's a guy that every team needs for his enthusiasm for the game.

I'd say we need starting ILB's. I like Torbor, but I think he's kind of an OLB/ILB guy and we'd get best use out of him filling in holes. Anderson I'm not really sure about, and Crowder I'm definitely not a fan of his.

Hopefully we can get Dan Connor in round 2, because I think he'd be our ideal ILB. But the guy I'm really hoping for is a late (6th/7th) rounder Kroy Biermann. He's a DE convert, and people are projecting him as an OLB, but I think he has enough instincts to play ILB also. He plays faster than he times and he times pretty quick. He's tremendously strong and has a motor that doesn't quit. Really, his only drawback is that he was born in Montana and played at his local schoool, thus no real competition. This kid might be a nice sleeper. ;)

Based on the comparative rankings of the offense and defense, Miami's 2008 draft will look like this:

Round 1, Pick 1 (No 1 overall): offensive tackle (Jake Long)
Round 2, Pick 1 (32): defensive end (Quentin Groves, Calais Campbell)
Round 2, Pick 26 (57) (from Chargers): quarterback (Chad Henne, Joe Flacco)
Round 3, Pick 1 (64): linebacker (Cliff Avril, Bruce Davis, Phillip Wheeler)
Round 4, Pick 1 (100): guard (Drew Radovich, Mick McGlynn, Robert Felton)
Round 6, Pick 29 (195) (from Cowboys): tight end (Cottam, Kellen Davis, Martin Rucker)
Round 6, Pick 38 (204) (compensatory selection): wide receiver (Dexter Jackson, Eddie Royal)
Round 7, Pick 1 (208): defensive tackle (DeMario Pressley, Nick Hayden)
Round 7, Pick 38 (245) (compensatory selection): best player available

While nine picks won’t fill every hole on the roster, the offseason acquisitions and a solid draft will put the Dolphins in much better position than they were just four short months ago.

Yes I am very serious, we have far more glaring needs than an ILB. The fact that Torbor was a backup does not mean he can't be a starter in the NFL, he played very well when he started for the giants, specially against NE in the final game of the regular season.

I would rather use the early picks on an OLB with JT's status up in the air, I would rather go after a stud WR where we only have TG ( who still needs to prove himself ) and Ernest wilford, and I would rather get a true CB becuase we have none, and an OG becuase we have none.

ILB can be addressed later on but not in the early rounds.
