Looks like SAR for a 1st. If the teams can't work out a deal, SAR will sign with NJ for the MLE. Also...

Their next signing could be free-agent guard Keyon Dooling with part of their mid-level exception. The Nets are looking for a combo guard who can help Jason Kidd keep his minutes down to about 30 a night. They seem to have narrowed in on Dooling as their guy.

The Nets will be among the eastern Conf Elite once again, the Nets still can't match up w/ Shaq(who can?) but who can match the explosiveness of the Nets w/ Kidd, Carter, Jefferson, Abdur-Rahim & Krstic? If the Nets can be decent defensively they will go a long way.

wow... i think the nets will dominate now... healtyh RJ, improve Vince (because of where he is) and Jkidd and now a very consistent PF in SAR.... looking good for the nets

Call me crazy, but that has all the look of a team that will be a lot better on paper than on the court. They'll be explosive and entertaining, don't get me wrong, but there are just too many little things I'd worry about...
Kidd hasn't been totally healthy and probably won't ever be again.
Jefferson's coming off a serious injury.
Carter's a *****; he would have lasted about five seconds in that Detroit-San Antonio Final before faking a knee injury.
Abdur-Rahim looks like this generation's Orlando Woolridge; he does his best work on crummy teams. The guy has *NEVER* been to the playoffs.

Where's the toughness? Where's the defense? Granted, that formula took the Suns to within three games of the Finals, but I question whether the Nets can pull it off.

you have a point... but i still think they will be pretty good... and Jkidd is one of the top defensive PG and vince isnt bad either

With Abdur Rahim's addition, the Nets look to me like your typical paper pretenders.
I really can't think of a softer team: Abdur Rahim, Kristic and Carter are notoriously soft defensively. JKidd isn't known for his mean streak, Vince plays when he wants to play. Jefferson and Abdur Rahim are known to fade down the stretch.
Carter, JKidd and Jefferson are coming off injuries.
There is still no depth behind the starting 5. The Keyon Dooling addition would help but he's not going to add defense.
The Nets might be as skilled and explosive (especially with Kidd healthy) as the Suns and will put up some points on the board but there is no way they've got the big bodies and defensive firepower to be elite. Too many question marks.

Ideally they would find a way to dump Jefferson for a SG, but with his injury problems his value is probably quite low. But they should compete either way....after the top 3 in the east there isnt much else of quality..

Injury is no concern, he will be a force again. The Nets are making the right moves. I love N.K. but Collins doesn't do it for me, I would love a big tough center.

Kidd is getting older so he's not going to be the Kidd of a few years ago but he is healthy and still one of the, if not the, best PGs in the game. Let's not forget Kidd and Jefferson were core players on 2 Eastern Conf Title teams so they know how to win. Sharif will be on a playoff team, next year and ateam that can go a long way. Carter is a great player and was spectacular for the Nets last year and I expect that to continue. krstic was very good and that was as a rookie, he should get better. The Nets also have an excellent coaching staff, this team will be a force in the East and very well could end up winning the east again.

Hopefully they sign Dooling so Miami can't make the MISTAKE by going into our MLE for him.

I would take Detroit, Miami and Indiana WAY before I'd look at NJ winning the East. I'm not disputing that they'll win the Atlantic, but I think that's in large part because the Atlantic just isn't a very good division right now. Boston and Philly are .500 teams, the Knicks are a mess and the Raptors are so pathetic that I actually had to go to ESPN.com and check what division they were in. So yeah, the Nets look like a good bet to win the 3rd seed, maybe even win a round in the playoffs. But once they hit one of the Big Three, they're going south.

I'd rate Det & mia ahead of them now too but I definitely think they can win the East. Remember 2 years ago we gave you guys all you could handle in a 7 game series and that was w/ an injured Kidd. We have a better roster now than that team and obviously you guys now have Championship experience but will not have Larry Brown. The nets are back among the east elite, I'm not saying the Nets will win the East but I am saying it's possible.

I guess they will not go a long way. :rofl3:

Whats wrong with Carter at the 2... I know he can't defend but he has to play. Jefferson is not coming off the bench he is too good...

We'll see, we have a good defensive coach and some good defensive players. I think the Nets wil be fine defensivley and no one will be able to stop the explosive offense.
