With the Dolphins, Allen has been “as advertised,” defensive coordinator Matt Burke noted Friday.
“Smart, veteran, competitive, always in the right place,” Burke said. “I laugh because everyone sees T.J. (McDonald) making a lot of flash plays, but Nate’s making real consistent plays. He doesn’t necessarily make all the splash plays — he’s gotten his hands on some balls, actually, which has been nice — but he’s a steadying, calming influence, which is exactly what we want out of him.”

He has been a day 1 starter in the secondary at camp . . . and you hear very little. That's a good thing.

While many didn't like the move (for valid reasons) he could prove to be as crafty as the IAQ signing was last season.

Rambo was so bad they signed 2 veteran safeties to ensure he isn't an option this year lol

Well I wish him the best. He seems like a good player, I just hope he doesnt fall to the dolphins FS curse we've recently been getting. The lasr two starters next to Reshad jones had career ending injuries playing there.

Nate Allen was one of my favorite draft prospects the year he was drafted. He actually played well his 1st season in Philly and was jealous that he was on that team. Injuries really hurt his progress over the next few years and basically became an afterthought. I was surprised he got that big contract from Oakland. And once again injuries hurt him. I liked the signing by Miami, for obvious reasons. I was hoping he'd find his old form and return to the player he showed in his early days in Philadelphia. I agree that, If Healthy, Allen can bring a steady influence to the safety position. Returning to Florida and his roots could be a huge difference in his possible career resurrection?

As the other poster wrote showed a ton of potential his rookie year with Eagles but then tore his Patella tendon. Never seemed to recover fully from that injury while with Eagles and he seemed to have trouble adjusting how he played with the loss of athletic ability from the injury. Would take bad angles that might have been successful for him at one point but not after he was hurt. By the end of his tenure in Philly he had gotten to the point where he was solid and serviceable but was always looked at as a disappointment by Philly fans because they expected more from him(Eagles fans always hope their safeties will be the next Brian Dawkins).

Thanks for the insight. Dawkins is a future HOF and a great guy. I coached his kids for the short time I lived in CO and while he played for the Broncos.
