curious to see some of the grumblings about who the replacement for paul p will be.

I'm sure there are the usual suspects, parcells disciples.

any darkhorses...

rumors, speculation, opinions?????

I honestly must say I have no idea who it may be.

Some think it'll be Al Groh, but he's supposed to sign with GA Tech as their head coach.

Romeo Crannel has been kicked around but he's pretty much a lock to go to KC according to Schefter.

I immediately thought of crennel.

There are too many people that could still be fired for us to pull the trigger on anybody too soon I think though...

I'm assuming we'll stick with the same base defense though. but you just never know.

just read that bill sheridan is also in the rumor milll. I have to admit I know nothing of his defensive philosophies nor I do know anything of his resume.

I'm praying for Romeo. He is a Super-Bowl defense machine! (as a DC)

Well first off to the orginial poster, were not replacing Henning, we're replacing Paul P and to the second guy Al Groh isnt going to GT to be there head coach ... they got this guy Paul Johnson who has led GT to the ACC title game 2 years in a row, he'd be going there to be there defensive coordinator.

Other than those 2, the only other names i've seen are Mike Zimmer from Cincy cause he has the Dallas and Parcells connection and then the other option i've seen is promoting secondary coach Todd Bowles.

But neither of these really "wow" me at the moment

We need someone who is flexible with their schemes. We don't need someone rigid who only plays one style of defense. And the new coach will need to be a guy who can help build a strong group at linebacker.

I agree, and that's why I like the idea of Mike Zimmer. He was with BP and TS in Dallas where they ran a 3-4, and the last 2 years in Cincy he ran a 4-3. I don't think you can be pure 3-4 or pur 4-3 anymore. You have to be able to outscheme the offenses and bring pressure.

Sheridan was fired from the Giants and rightfully so.
We don't really want him?i would hope not.

Todd Bowles (our assistant head coach) will get the promotion, Sheridan will come in as one of the LB coaches. The other LB coach, I have no clue.

Crennel would be the ideal choice for me but I tend to think it will be either Mike Zimmer or Todd Bowles.

Most likely Sheridan as LB and I would not be surprised if he is the only one. They need to have the entire LB corps under one coach.

Let's go after Mike Zimmer of the Bengals....he knows his stuff.
