I just received the new edition of Dolphin digest the other day and was wondering if anyone else read Andy Cohens end of the season column? I found one thing stuck out more to me than anything else and that's when he was talking about how the locker room was pretty much empty and JT was alone at his cubicle and John Beck walked up to him, and not the coach, and promised that he was going to work hard in the off-season and promised that he wouldn't let JT down. That shows me that this kid truly wants to win for the team and not himself. I think it shows the humbleness and a true commitment to his team to move into more of a leadership role. This isn't a thread to start the whole Beck is good/ horrible debate. This is more to show the kind of commitment we need on this team in order for us to become relevant again. They need to play for the team and not themselves.

I've been a John Beck supporter since day one. I think he's got the right attitude and all the tools needed to be a good, if not great QB in the league.

I just think it really speaks to his make-up that he sought out JT and told him he was going to work hard and that he wouldn't let him down. When you hear people talk about the David Carr's of the world and how they seperate themselves from the rest of the team you just have to love this type of commitment.

It shows his maturity, too. JT openly said that he didn't like the way things were going when Cam and Mueller were running the show, and some of those comments came after reporters asked him about John Beck. If you remember, the team thought that Cleo gave them a better chance to win the game, and some of the locker room spoke out about it. For Beck to set that aside and still go up to JT and tell him that he's going to work hard and get better so that they can have a chance to win really proves to me that the guy can set aside everything else and put the team before personal conflict.

Exactly,
And that's the type of attitude this team needs to turn this ship around!

John Beck will be a very good quarterback in this league, soon. Sure, he didnt have the best games, but to me, he was better than expected . . . especially in the Philie/Pitt games. He may not have the physical tools to be elite, but I dont think that a John Elway (especially as compared to Marino) did either, but he has the intangibles to be elite. If we can stay the course with this young man, I think we will be very happy.

I have to agree, I think Beck is our next franchise qb and I know he will do well, if they give him a chance.

Call me a ***** but I teared up when I read that.

Instantly, his linemen will probably put their lives on the line for him...This shows he is gaining other player`s respect

John is the man and there is no way he will let us down. I've liked this young man ever since I first watched tape of his senior year. He is going to be a great one.

i agree... with most of you... i really like john beck and i hope he becomes our QB for years to come... i mean how can you not pull for the kid.. i still dont mind drafting a qb in the later rounds... but i def want to give beck his chance our QBs for next year should be Green Beck and a rookie.. and there are alot of decent qb options in the draft this year no need to draft one in the first round... some one is bound to fall to the 2nd or 3rd round...

I love beck...

But words mean nothing if he doesn't improve.

i dont thonk they thought cleo would give them a betterbshot but they did get mad at cleo starting n not beck

I think drafting a QB should not be a priority until at least the 4th round. We have too many spots to fill on this team. If we use a high draft pick on a QB then it only leaves our other needs unaddressed or addressed later with most likely not as capable players.

I agree that Beck could use some camp competition with a rookie but I also think that Beck is very likely to be our Franchise QB for the future.

I think Beck will be ok....you have to give it some time....at worst he should still be around to battle Cleo Lemon/Trent Green for a spot on the roster. I still would like to see us draft or aquire a FA agent QB, but I don't think it is time to give up on Beck just yet.
